Excellent finale but how Luthen went out was puzzling. I figured a careful planner like him would have his place rigged for either escape or suicide. I thought his picking out his ring was foreshadowing of it being poisoned. Or it was a trigger for bombs in his showroom.
I think they just want to remove Pershing's New Republic conditioning. Or that and the parts of his personality that tends toward good. That way the Empire/Sith can start using him as a tool for their sick experiments again.
As a comparison I went back to the first three episodes of GoT to get a read on how far that went in three episodes. Holy hell, just one episode had more intriguing stuff going on than the whole run of HotD.
Three hours in and we really haven’t covered much ground. I’m going ask you all who have read the books, is there a reason the plot is going this slowly? Is there some good stuff coming up?
I'm liking the show so far. I can see why Tolkien scholars would be upset at the changing of his history, but creating a major multi-year show like this (from what essentially is an outline) is going to require quite a bit of leeway to make it compelling. Let's see where this takes us.
Amazon has too much money and prestige on the line for this to be acknowledged as a failure. No matter what the ratings are. They will show the whole thing and call it a success regardless.
