    Mac Calhoun's speech pattern

When you read New Frontier after hearing the audiobooks by Joe Morton, did you really read Calhoun's voice that way? It was always so very odd to me the slow overly pronounced words and almost spit-dripping way he voiced Mac. I can't find an example of it on youtube but it was a wild listen.

    Author Habits That Annoy You

What are a series of things that Trek authors do that kind of bug you? I have a list Dayton Ward: Afraid to let his own stories stand on his own and will spend pages and pages recapping old books or old episodes. "Pliable Truths" recapped all of Chain of Command over several paragraphs David...

What happened to Dafydd ab Hugh?

Not seeing any publishing since 1999, does he have an online presence? wondered if he's publishing under a different name these days. Just re-read Final Fury and Balance of Power. Loved his wacky take on TNG and VGR. Fallen heroes was also a standout.

21st Century Books and 21st Century Slang

Just read "Last Best Hope" and the word fuck appears 19 times during the book. when i was a kid, star trek characters had outgrown crass language and were the best of humanity. Now the writers of on screen trek and lit trek are just trying to be "relatable". Stop It.

    Klingon Bard

How come no trek after 1991 picked up on the Klingon's love of Shakespeare ? Seemed like a perfect thing for Martok to be a fan of, and Worf could have rolled his eyes and hated it or something.

    Does anyone get Sisko right?

Ben Sisko and more appropriately, Avery Brooks is a bit a "eccentric". What author do you think captured him best? The weird back of the neck scratch, the low growl anger, the "Hammock time!" dad, he's a bit of a nut and i love him. I just want to find an author who captures him the best.

    Chain of Command revisited

watched Chain of Command again- everyone raves about Picard and Madred but no one really talks about how great the stuff on Enterprise with Jellico is. It’s astounding how insubordinate and unprofessional the senior officers become (Except Data, who gets a shiny red uniform) I just fired a...

Fired my first employee- it didn't go well

I got to write this down for posterity. Became a manager in my department almost 3 years ago. Last year another leader got demoted and her team disbanded and spread across several different leaders. one of the employee's I got had been issued a written warning and had issues with their...

    Mirror Bashir

Was Mirror Bashir also genetically enhanced? Or was he also unable to tell the difference between a dog and a house.

    Picard Season 3 Vibe

Re-watched Picard S3 again, what are some books that give this "Vibe"? So Far I've come up with The Fall series, and a little of bit of Destiny. Dug the Ro Laren "Imposters" episode the most and it gave me a James Swallow feeling ::-) What are come Trek books that fall along these type...

    Paramount working on DS9 HD?

On this weeks episodes of Inglorious Treksperts Mark Altman confirmed Paramount is seeking bids at effects houses for the DS9 HD restoration.

The epic quality of the 34th Rule

Just read this again for the first time in a decade. Was so great. What are some novels that take place during any of the series that share such an epic story? This told a grand story in the middle of season 4 of DS9, kind of like the String Theory trilogy of Voyager or even Prime Directive for...

"I don't like Star Trek, but I like Money"

I just re-read Voyages of Imagination again, because I love the interviews with the authors and the background. Oh Boy were there a ton of authors who either had never watched Star Trek or had and didn't like it but were good writers so Pocket hired them. Then about the turn of the century we...

Just finished Fallen Heroes again, looking for a good odo story. GO!

    Picard or Destiny?

Enterprise and Titan team up to deal the final blow to the Borg. Picard faces his own destiny and confronts the Queen one last time and comes to terms with becoming a father. The Federation president issues a warning that Borg are attacking Earth. The Borg are ultimately defeated through an...

    Judgement Rites and 25th Anniversary

Odd question, any TOS books that have the same narrative type stories as these old CD Rom Games? The writing was so great in them, would like books that are similar.

I want to talk about the grifters

I'm not going to mention their names because all they want is attention. Robert Meyer Burnett has seen Picard Season 3 and loved it. He called out one of these online grifters, lets call him "CoomDock" and said, hey watch the first 4 episodes of Picard S3 and come on my show and let's review it...

    Military Mack

Halfway through Harm's Way and just finished Oblivion's Gate. Mack seems to be writing in the Yesterday's Enterprise timeline. Jean-Luc Picard cocked his phaser shot gun and said "Watch our six." Demand for "Sitreps," etc, the old fashioned naval language of the past has seemed to have been...

Did Star Trek Books grow up in 2001?

I've been reading tons of numbered novels from the 80s and 90s and they all seem very... Light? Fluffy? Rise-Adverse? i can't put my finger on it, i just see the moment it shifts with Avatar and the DS9 Relaunch, that once the novels created their own contiuity we stopped getting things like...

    Duplicate Kirk, Baby Dadddy?

I was reading Captain's Daughter by Peter David and there's a scene with Jancie Rand, talking about how she had a daughter who died before she turned two. It'sheavily implied the father was the Transporter Duplicate Kirk that assaulted her in The Enemy Within. Has this ever been corroborated?
