Firefly is one of my favorite sci-fi shows, and it boasts one of the best ensemble casts ever assembled. The show obviously didn't go on along enough to take the characters very far, but I think it still managed to develop them moreso than many, many other shows pull off in just half a season...
I finished Ilium and Olympos a few weeks ago and now I've finally remembered to start a thread about them here. My Hyperion/Endymion thread didn't get many responses but people seemed to enjoy those books, and at the time I got a few warnings about what to expect from Ilium and Olympos...perhaps...
I read the four books in Dan Simmons's Hyperion series (spoilers for all four books in this thread will follow) for the first time a few months ago, but somehow keep forgetting to start a thread here about them. It was the first major non-Trek sci-fi literature I've read and it was a superb...

:techman: Great news! Sounds like a similar situation to season 4, where they lobbied ABC to give them one more hour for "There's No Place Like Home." 18 isn't much bigger than 17, but they've definitely got a ton of story to get through so I'm happy...
