Long after TOS went off the air, the only new Trek we could get our hands on were the animated series, the (very) few movies that were out at the time, and of course, the novels from Bantam books, and later, Simon & Shuster/Pocket Books. The TOS novels under Pocket Books filled in the gaps...
When comparing stardates, Caretaker takes place before Star Trek: Generations. The crew of Voyager wears the uniform we were introduced to from the early seasons of DS9, but on Generations, the crew of the Enterprise-D is seen wearing the uniforms from both TNG and those early seasons of DS9...
I always found scenes like these hilarious. From Yesterday's Enterprise:
Tasha: "Commander, advise Lieutenant La Forge that shields are below minimum."
Riker: "You're wearing a communicator, too, just so you know."
Oh, wait. Riker didn't say that. He responds with, "Acknowledged."
Also...
And then, awkward silence on the bridge after the order is given and a few buttons are pressed.
For the audience, the music swells, we see the ship go to warp and credits roll.
But back on the bridge, I can only imagine the helmsman rolling their eyes after hearing the send-off line of the...
Thoughts on the rear consoles added to the Danube-class runabouts in the later season of DS9: yay or nay?
For me, I wasn't a fan of this addition. I thought it made the main cabin too crowded and preferred the simpler design from earlier seasons. What do you think?
For me, it was always "Schisms." The crew standing in the holodeck re-creating the alien lab surrounded by the clicking sounds was incredibly creepy to me at the time, especially later in the episode when we see Riker pulled into that universe, being picked at by those fish-monks. Fantastic...
I'm trying to imagine how awkward it must have been for the crew to face the next morning after going through an episode like "Genesis":
"Honey, remember when the kids turned into iguanas and me a cro-magnon man?"
"Yes, dear. You were only trying to mate with our cat."
I'm wondering how...
We never did hear from Ensign Sonya Gomez after her second appearance in Up the Long Ladder; Nurse Ogawa after First Contact; and that spiky-haired female bridge officer who used to wear the gold uniform on TNG, then switched to being the red shirt helmsman whose console exploded in her face in...
In contrast to BillJ's thread, which episodes do you find yourself watching over and over again? Some of mine include the ones with the least amount of action:
TOS: The City on the Edge of Forever
TNG: Lessons
DS9: The Visitor
VOYr: Tuvix
ENT: Strange New World (well okay, only the first...
Example: the classic look on Riker's face as he's getting grabbed by Merritt Butrick in "Symbiosis." I was eight years old when this episode first aired and always got a good laugh out of it whenever they reran it, especially when they showed that same clip in "Shades of Gray."
What are...
Something that always bugged when I first saw this episode... When the Borg invade the bridge, the officers working the aft stations do... NOTHING? They continue manning their post. It's just... business as usual to them?
Also, I wonder who was working the helm and ops...
With the amount of damage sustained in the space battles that take place in each series, I've always wondered who gets assigned the daunting task of fixing up everyone's quarters so that they look like they were untouched?
Maybe Kevin Riley or Yeoman Rand (since we never see her again on the...
Stanley Kamel, who played our favorite Starfleet propulsion "expert" in the first season episode, "Where No One Has Gone Before," dies at the age of 65. He was a character I loved to hate when I was a kid. Though I never watched the Monk, I'm sure he'll be missed by fans of the show.
