Spoilers The Roddenberry Archive brings every iteration of Star Trek’s USS Enterprise bridge to life

And presumably works ALL the time. :) Thanks for clearing that up.

Spoilers The Roddenberry Archive brings every iteration of Star Trek’s USS Enterprise bridge to life

The story is that demographic tracking wasn't a thing until after the cancellation, but the gunsmoke article proves they were already tracking and making decisions based on demographics before the cancellation.

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 3x04 - "A Space Adventure Hour"

I can't disagree. With reduced episode count, if there's an arc or multiple arcs to tell, that screentime is essential. Like or dislike the show I'm about to mention as reference, "The Orville" was trying to juggle three running arcs - but sped those up while trying to have inane fluff fun...

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 3x04 - "A Space Adventure Hour"

And this is how I define "gimmicky" as done in SNW. I thought I was done with this line of discussion.... ugh.... but I've got to say that it feels a bit like desperation -- "how can we tie this...inane... whatever... situation/person/thing... to TOS/the Cage/and now even TNG...

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 3x04 - "A Space Adventure Hour"

...about production in the episode. There were at least two stories that were self-referential reflections on how Star Trek emerged, First Contact and Far Beyond the Stars. I suspect that this episode emerged as producers grappled with the cancellation of other Star Trek series in the last 1-2 years

CosmicCrap "news" is suggesting that S2 will be canceled. I hate the toxic fans so much

Is it time to put Star Trek to rest?

Oh, I am im complete agreement that this will ultimately be the deciding factor. I'm just giving my opinion based on what has been produced since 2017.

Is it time to put Star Trek to rest?

Economics will be the only decider of this particular question. Much like in was when they cancelled Enterprise in 2005.

Is it time to put Star Trek to rest?

When TNG was announced I don't ever remember people saying Trek needed a rest. In fact TNG while not 100% accepted by fandom at the time had a decent reaction. Enterprise is when Fandom were "tiring" of Trek. It hasn't gotten better since IMO mostly worse. Trek had a lousy 4 years between...

Is it time to put Star Trek to rest?

No, it's not. This sort of thinking happens in cycles with the fandom, they said it when TNG was announced back in 1986 and they said it again when ENT was cancelled in 2005. Maybe it's a little overproduced nowadays, but that just means you'll get some s*** with the shinola.

    Things that frustrate us all

Wednesday, my primary care physician increased a dose of my prescribed medicine. I called the local Walgreens on Thursday to get the prescription filled. After a round with the phone answering AI, I verified with a human, they had the new prescription amount from my Doctor. They said they did...

‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Renewed for Fifth and Final Season

The studio wanted to end the show after season 4, but committed to season 5 due to the fact that they had made a promise to the fans. I can appreciate that considering the way Netflix cancel shows on cliffhangers and unfinished storylines on a regular basis.

Strange New Worlds' showrunners advise fans to write to Skydance and Paramount if they're interested in a "Year One" Kirk sequel series

...they knew what they were talking about. It’s ending with a truncated season 5. I have yet to hear a cogent response as to why something like that would not be considered a cancellation. But you know what? This horse is beaten and dead. Think whatever you like, I don’t really care anymore.

Strange New Worlds' showrunners advise fans to write to Skydance and Paramount if they're interested in a "Year One" Kirk sequel series

This is a cost containment measure. P+ has said, "We're spending this much on SNW and not a penny more!"

Strange New Worlds' showrunners advise fans to write to Skydance and Paramount if they're interested in a "Year One" Kirk sequel series

Paramount has decided that they won’t go beyond 5 seasons for a streaming series. They never said that the last season has to have 10 episodes at all. It can be any number they want, and AFAIK, Paramount would only greenlit less episodes instead of more for a season. They’ve also decided that...

Strange New Worlds' showrunners advise fans to write to Skydance and Paramount if they're interested in a "Year One" Kirk sequel series

This is becoming a semantic argument. In my opinion, I do not see this as a cancelation. But for those that are ardent it is, I have question for you. Season 4 and season 5 was recently renewed in advance. And season 5 's order was reduced. So.....hypothetically if they announced SNW has...

Spoilers Marvel Cinematic Universe spoiler-heavy speculation thread

What @Xerxes82 said. @Christopher It was arbitrary. Avengers vs X-Men came out in the spring and summer of 2012. The same year as the MCU’s The Avengers in theaters. It was meant to capitalize on the exploding popularity of the Avengers at the time and exercise an age old Marvel trait of...

And the Next Cancelled Show is...

Not particularly surprised at that one. I did watch both seasons when they came out but the second felt like more of a slog for me personally.

Strange New Worlds' showrunners advise fans to write to Skydance and Paramount if they're interested in a "Year One" Kirk sequel series

Yeah, I remember. And in a move that feels familiar, it was a short wrapup season — by the standards of the day. One might might look up Season 5 and object that this “short” season was eight episodes, as long as or longer than many regular seasons today; but that was coming after a 22-episode...

Strange New Worlds' showrunners advise fans to write to Skydance and Paramount if they're interested in a "Year One" Kirk sequel series

It's OK. :) Thanks! P+ announced Disco's cancellation while the cast was at sea on the Star Trek cruise. :censored: That was a rollercoaster. USA Network cancelled it abruptly. The fans launched a campaign. They sent in hundreds upon thousands of sunglasses -- Nikita...
