What's the biggest Trek book collection out there?

"It's not the size, it's how you use it." Jokes aside, I do recommend being intentional in what and how you collect. Having a collection as big as Steve Sansweet (Star Wars items in his case) means little if you are not doing something with it or enjoying the pieces. For myself, I like to have...

What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Yes, there was a lot of joking at the Pentagon when the new rank was formed in the 1980s.

...do me a favor.” Tony’s eyes narrowed. “How can I help you?” Since when did McGee ask him for help? Something was off again. “Tony… you don’t joke about stuff like that. We know nothing about the possibilities… possibilities of extraterrestrial life… we don’t know if they’re already among us...

...your magazines or playing Tetris on your phone.” Tony rolled his eyes. “I mean… Ziva—promise me you won’t make fun of this or crack a stupid joke.” She smiled, looked at him with those brown eyes that captivated him, tilted her head thoughtfully, and nodded. “I… I think we’ve found this body...

...incredibly ugly art style, which has characters looking at the reader with this large eyes, which makes one think "Is that supposed to be a joke now?" But when I stumbled upon "The black dossier" and the Leagues "Century"-comic-arc, I said "Maybe it's better?" And honestly... it isn't. The...

    Re-Watching DS9

Yes. Maybe. No? It definitely seems like something that a producer would insert, not a paid scriptwriter. Certainly JMS has not forgiven to this day whatever he thinks happened.

    Re-Watching DS9

True. But JMS was not handwringing about STAR TREK as much as a lot of the B5 fans were. Otherwise, I doubt he would have been fine with casting Majel Barrett in "POINT OF NO RETURN". That line from Ivanova is honestly just an inside joke for the fans of both franchises.

    Spoilers Andor - Season 2

Might I interest you in a 1970s sitcom called "The Jeffersons"? Specifically the first few seasons.

...that he was offered Bergerac, but said he's only do it if he could move it off Jersey and sack John Nettles. Which sounds like an obvious joke taken out of context. Given what we know, there's zero chance that Johnathan Powell would have given him a big hitter like that. By 1989 it was...

New Doctor Who animated series announced but...

...were running alongside it, as it set boundaries for what Doctor Who's tone was supposed to be. Slitheen stories could go to Sarah Jane, jokes about sex with a paving stone were a better fit for Torchwood etc. Church on Ruby Road, Space Babies, Devil's Chord etc. would've been right at home on...

    Re-Watching VOY

I didn't say this earlier, but I think "Initiations" is a weird episode to come back with, since it was the first episode produced for Season 2. By the time they were making this episode, I think they had to have known that UPN decided to make "The 37s" the Season 2 Premiere instead of the...

Moments on TNG that make you cringe.

you can get chatgpt and grok to straight up talk in slang or act like your best friend, get excited, tell jokes, its kind of hilarious. but - so could Data, when he was impersonating a comedian, or playing Sherlock Holmes, on the holodeck.....

Mission: Impossible - Final Reckoning (2025)

I dunno, it has been decades already and kept vague enough to make you wonder how one McGuffin evolved into another across many, many years.

Astra's TOS action figures in action

More than a year later, I finally watched that movie and am able to understand this joke ;) The leather jacket, right? BTW, I loved the older Indy! I know not many do, but I did. Even contemplating to buy the Hot Toys figure. It looks awesome. So, my figures got figures! Have you heard of the...

Mel Brooks Returning as Yogurt in Spaceballs Sequel

The plot gets disguised a bit by the sheer volume of jokes. The same thing happens with Airplane!, which surprised me when I watched Zero Hour! (which Airplane! is a nearly shot-for-shot remake of), and found Airplane! is actually better narratively; combining the main character's ex and the...

Mel Brooks Returning as Yogurt in Spaceballs Sequel

Spaceballs had more referential jokes than just The Ten Commandments, but I do understand your point. Other references that I recall: JAWS "Star Trek" The whole it's Star Wars but not really Star Wars, wink wink thing. Lawrence of Arabia Planet of the Apes The "Dink Dink" song is of course the...

Mel Brooks Returning as Yogurt in Spaceballs Sequel

...beginning, climax, and ending. The characters have motivations and defined personalities. It's just told in a humorous way with many, excellent jokes. I'm not trying to tout Space Balls as some epic tale here, I always just find it really weird when people claim something that has a plot...

Mel Brooks Returning as Yogurt in Spaceballs Sequel

...nostalgia is likely to be its main selling point and I have a feeling it's going to lean hard on it, and possibly even make some of the same jokes as the first time around. I guess one way around the thin story would be to build a backstory of what's happened since the first movie as a bit of...
