Spoilers STAR TREK: SECTION 31 - Grading & Discussion

Yeah. Section 31 is in the running for my least-favorite Star Trek movie. It's not in the running for my least-favorite Star Trek installment ever made. It's severely disappointing. It's not outright offensive. Two different things. Setting aside "Threshold", and setting aside "Let He Who...

The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

Now would be a good time to bring back "Chuck." Levy is not a movie star and Strahovski should be available with "Handmaid's Tale" ending.

Spoilers STAR TREK: SECTION 31 - Grading & Discussion

The following episodes, I feel, are better than SECTION 31. "TATTOO" - we get a look at Chakotay's childhood, and The Doctor giving himself a flu to prove a point was funny. "THRESHOLD" - this is a GOOD episode, doesn't belong in the bottom end of VOY. It's got great character work for Tom...

Spoilers STAR TREK: SECTION 31 - Grading & Discussion

Are you sure about that? This is Voyager's bottom 12 according to IMDb voters: Elogium Tattoo Threshold Sacred Ground Darkling Favorite Son Unforgettable Once Upon a Time The Fight Fair Haven Spirit Folk Fury Can anyone honestly say that The Fight is better than Section 31? Or Unforgettable...

The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

NBC wants to bring back Royal Pains. At this rate, with the Suits spinoff and the talk about White Collar, might as well just bring back Covert Affairs, Psych, Monk, In Plain Sight and Burn Notice while we're at it.

"Good Episodes" you think are bad?

Recency Bias, thy name is "The Last Generation."

"Good Episodes" you think are bad?

Highest rated Star Trek episode of all time on IMDb, so pretty much.

    Spoilers Andor - Season 2

Well, you know, I'm getting close to 60, and I'm watching Andor. I'm not looking for a kids' show. I'm so glad it's not a kids' show. The original Star Wars was rated PG. Star Wars has never been considered a franchise that is completely devoid of material that some parents might have concerns...

The James Bond Film Discussion Thread (With Bonus Lazenby!)

My Rog ranking (ooh matron) is 1. The Spy Who Loved Me 2. For Your Eyes Only 3. Live and Let Die (honestly, until the last few posts. I thought everyone rated it) 4. The Man With The Golden Gun (largely for Christopher Lee) 5. Octopussy 6. A View to a Kill (largely for Christopher Walken) 7...

    General Trek Questions and Observations

Sloppy writing. Not seeing the forest through the trees... Parasites have consequences. Death being one of them (real world). Even assuming stealth biology, something would have to be a bit off. Stealth biology?? In Alien, pay attention to the fact that the implant is difficult to...

Suppose warp drive is invented. What happens next?

I don't see how that is time travel in the sense that one jumps aboard an FTL craft and arrives before they leave, because, of course, the FTL ship didn't arrive before it left, it only appeared so to an observer from the destination. To an observer from the origin, it would appear as though...

Did it fail? Wikipedia seems to indicate that it did quite well in ratings, viewer response and critical response.

Spoilers Lux grade and discussion thread

I enjoyed it as a goofy bit of entertainment. I gave it a 7. A decent bit of fun. Can't really say more than that. Like the previous episode, it seemed to fall apart a bit as the story went along. Interestingly, the Doctor Who fan also rated it as a 7. That's the first time my rating was...

    Your postmortem thoughts on DISCO

    Sounds about right :)

    Your postmortem thoughts on DISCO

Solid cast, great special effects, but a very deficient writers room. They don’t know how do season long story arcs at all. And a lot of the season arcs felt like marketing gimmicks to sell the show to audiences in quick commercials (what was the burn, who is the red angel, etc.), as opposed to...

    DS9 Relaunch Appreciation

Coda may be depressing overall, but the DS9 book in it is fantastic, IMO. Watching these characters fight until the end like heroes is such a great way to go out. Unofficially, I look at the Coda trilogy as season 10 of DS9. Avatar-Unity: Season 8 Rest of the books: Season 9 Coda: Season 10.

What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Depends how much dates are important to you, but I can’t recommend highly enough the Star Trek: Spaceflight Chronology. It was produced in the early-80’s but is a wildly creative look at the Trek universe. Illustrated by Rick Sternbach who later worked on TNG.

What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

It's possible that saucers and nacelles ARE the alien influence.

Would TNG Have Worked Without Picard?

I agree that Stewart's acting/Picard's characterization would be a loss, but I think the writers and Frakes could make up for it by making Riker a bit more introspective himself. He was, after all, questioning his career choices in BoBW before the Borg attacked. Riker's bluntness might be...
