Is conservation of energy a law?

I was having a debate over the status of the law of conservation of energy with a friend of mine. I stated that death is an exception to said law. His premise was that if energy can only be transferred into another form of energy, any electrical charge that dissipates from that host body most be...

Is science fiction a precursor to science fact?

Another example of faith in science from season 2 episode 1 of Numb3rs. Dr. Larry Fleinhardt: You know, that term "dark matter" has always perplexed me. It fallaciously implies that the 95% of our universe that cannot be observed is some amorphous, eventless emptiness. Amita Ramanujan: I'm...

    "The Vulcan Academy Murders"

It will have the same posture and be perched on stone silhouetted by the moon that doesn't exist. It might be the neighboring planet Andoria.

    "The Vulcan Academy Murders"

    That's what I'm saying.

    "The Vulcan Academy Murders"

If it is a le-matya it must be a very loose interpretation. I definitely find it more aesthetically pleasing than the TAS le-matya.

I'm in need of a human Star Trek encyclopedia

I need help identifying the creature on the cover of "The Vulcan Academy Murders" perched on a large rock. Throughout the book the only animals mentioned that correlate with the story are the sehlats and the le-matya, both of which have previously been illustrated as mammals while the animal in...

Watching ENT despite the continuity flaws.

I couldn't tell you because I'm ignorant of such distances. To be conscious that you are ignorant is a great step to knowledge. -Benjamin Disraeli

Watching ENT despite the continuity flaws.

I'll try to be as rudimentary as possible so you can understand. A penny has a rim. If just one amoeba was on said penny, how would you locate it when all you know is it's on the rim? The galaxy isn't round or even symmetrical so how would you approximate where by the rim they are in galactic...

    DS9 deserved a movie

TOS had 5 good movies? 2,3,4, and generations. So is the other good movie 1 or 5?

    DS9 deserved a movie

Sorry about that, contextual error on my part. At first glance I thought you had voiced that you agree there should've been a DS9 movie. Now I see that you were just saying to stay focused on the thread topic.

Watching ENT despite the continuity flaws.

Kirk's Enterprise reached the center of the galaxy as they know it. If you understand vectors you would know that the Milky Way isn't on a flat plane. It's more like a pizza box at a 45 degree angle with a corner of the box being it's lowest point on a vertical scale. Can you read headings...

Yes Shatna, you're the minority with phasers up their butts.

    DS9 deserved a movie

I have no major issues with the show. It even had some gems but in contrast to all other series other than ENT it just isn't up to par. We both agree there isn't a DS9 for many reasons.
