Timeline: Enterprise B/C era & Cardassian War

Honestly, I'm simply ignoring the odd ones out; like the Prometheus, for example. Just wish there weren't so many slip ups... but at the end of the day, TV production was an exceedingly rushed affair at that point still, so it's easy enough afaic to forgive (and ignore) miscommunications between...

Timeline: Enterprise B/C era & Cardassian War

Thank goodness for that - the last thing we need is Yet Another Excelsior at the expense of other, far too infrequently glimpsed classes  ETA: on the other hand it was an Excelsior we saw regardless, so FML

Timeline: Enterprise B/C era & Cardassian War

Ugh. More registry anachronisms. :brickwall: Considering 1) the registry plaque that date is taken from didn't appear onscreen in sufficient detail to get any info, 2) it was already botched in that it re-used the motto from the USS Excelsior, and 3) for a "new" ship the Phoenix is disturbingly...

Timeline: Enterprise B/C era & Cardassian War

I'm curious, do we know when Maxwell was transferred to command of the Phoenix (her registry implies a commissioning in the 2350s) or the fate of the Rutledge?

[New Star Trek Idea] Star Trek Freighter

Just for the sake of entertaining the idea: If I were to convert a Galaxy-class for this ignominious purpose ala the earlier Miranda-class examples, I'd empty out the entire saucer section of crew quarters etc, leaving the Shuttlebay (modified for cargo transfer), the former Main Bridge as a...

Galaxy Class Refits That Aren't The "All Good Things" Dreadnaught

So far we've seen onscreen 7 named examples, plus (if you subscribe to the idea) possibly one short-lived example that J.P. Hanson was aboard, at Wolf 359. Galaxy NX-70637 Venture NCC-71099 Enterprise NCC-1701-D Yamato NCC-71807 Odyssey NCC-71832 Venture NCC-71854 These all make logical sense...

Galaxy Class Refits That Aren't The "All Good Things" Dreadnaught

Totally agree :bolian: I'd thought about doing that to allow for more 3 decks to be cut out of the neck, but didn't want to lose too much height; so left them as-is. Not a bad idea to do it anyway, though... Having them spaced a little lower and wider apart would compliment the reduced neck...

Holy snit that was a lot of text, sorry!

Galaxy Class Refits That Aren't The "All Good Things" Dreadnaught

TBH I've not been a fan of the whole "make the Saucer smaller" argument since my mid teens, as the forward bow is a critical element of the design's warp dynamics. Better off just designing a new class of ship entirely, IMO... I'd certainly love to modify the saucer though, in a post "Alternate...

Oh, I'm already hoping Nandi is going to be knocking that particular a$$hole down several pegs!

Sulu: "She's supposed to have transwarp drive"

As others have pointed out, and is even alluded to in the film, Mr Scott is something of a technical wizard. Suffice to say he'd likely been writing papers on Transwarp theory, been involved heavily with various SCE technical subcommittees, and possibly even had a hand in earlier the development...

    Ship/station combo

Dude it doesn't matter when you decided on your own head canon for something; it's still irrelevant to anyone but you. Chill the heck out.

Starship Design Peaked With The Galaxy Class

See, I do love the Galaxy; I consider it and the Intrepid to be pinnacles of C24th design. But those same curves look out of place on a design which supposedly originated 40yrs prior... If the Ambassador-class had been literally only 20yrs old by TNG, then Probert's version would definitely...

    Ship/station combo

Le sigh... I was joking (I actually quite enjoy the idea of late C24th Starfleet using cloaks in the wake of Romulus' destruction), but as you seem to be taking it seriously: The mobile starbase I mentioned was very much of a C24th aesthetic, having been designed irl a good decade or so ago, so...

Starship Design Peaked With The Galaxy Class

As a little kid I didn't like the E-D, but that was because I'd been introduced to the Refit/A first, plus the fact that "the fat curvy one" was a lot harder for little me to draw! :ouch: Nowadays I love the Galaxy-class, especially after the interior upgrades for Generations and the USS...

Pish, I tell you! The far far future doesn't count, and neither do alt-future timelines. Starfleet is squeaky clean!

To be fair, Starfleet aren't generally the type to try skulking around undetected anyway lol

Contest: VOTE Which Federation Starship Class is your favourite and why?

I had to pick "Something Else"... I've always loved the Ambassador-class Yamaguchi, but I'd rather have a similar design in the scale of the Connie Refit, with the hull textures of the Probert/Tobias Richter Ambassador. It could be ideal as a mid-C24th "Constitution-III" Refit to extend the...

    Ship/station combo

I seem to recall there was a 3D mesh of a mobile Starbase designed years ago (maybe by Mr Wilde?), which looked similar to Spacedock and was fitted with a massive warp ring built into the outer sections of its upper "dome". It would then travel at warp essentially bottom-first...

Which species' ship designs are your favorite?

I couldn't vote for them based on what little we saw, but I feel like Bajoran ships will be really cool once Bajor gets its feet under it - maybe they'll have elements inspired by both Federation and the spoonheads' technologies, but with the unique Bajoran aesthetic applied at starship scale...
