I've never seen the ABC version with added scenes, but wasn't there supposedly also an extended scene of Sulu and Kirk in the travel pod discussing Sulu's promotion that never made it to the DE? Or am I just remembering that from the novel?

Wouldn't mind seeing some more myself, it's been a while now...

It has been theorized in other publications (as best as I can remember without digging around for them) that NCC stood for either Naval Construction Code or Naval Contract (Contact?) Code. And I seen to recall seeing something that had it as Navigational instead of Naval. YMMV :)

Interesting, I didn't know that the idea of using -A had been floated that long ago. Why did MJ suggest it for the series? If it was for Phase II then I can understand, but if for TOS?

The artist is Dru Blair http://www.drublair.com/ IIRC when he had the picture on his site the dreadnought was said to be an Ascension class ship.

Well maybe 'evolution' was the wrong word, we just seemed to have a similar idea with the extension off the rear of the saucer and the engineering hull (in your case) or nav deflector (in my case) sitting down under the middle of the saucer. Seeing yours with the two nacelles kinda makes me...

I like it. Very nice work, and from a design point-of-view it makes more sense as a predecessor to NCC-1701 than the Akiraprise did. IMHO, of course.
