Ok, I really did laugh at the “merit badge” comment.

Might I suggest trying Duvel. While not a Trappist product, it is quite amazing. And, Duvel translates to Devil in Flemish. I was fortunate to live in Belgium and thoroughly enjoyed their products.

Brilliant child prodigies are hard to write. Actually, if memory serves, quasi contemporary show Seaquest DSV did a good job with their child prodigy. But I think the fandom soured on him due to season 1 and he could never really rebound. As far as the actor goes, they just read the lines...

STV was really just a re write of The Way to Eden… just without the space hippies. It definitely needed more writing sessions to smooth out all the bumps in the script … the acting during the “comedy” was atrocious. Could it have been better ? Oh, you betcha.
