Upcoming Games You're Looking Forward To...

Can I shamelessly plug my own game? Because I'm definitely looking forward to it :D It will be free to play, and I hope to have a demo ready sometime in the next few weeks :) https://store.steampowered.com/app/1332100/Starship_Simulator/

A space exploration game I've been working on

I'm working on a demo at the moment. Hopefully I'll get it into a releasable state shortly after Christmas, but there's a looooong list of things I need to get done. I did manage to get the autopilot flying between star systems today though, so progress is being made! :) In the demo you should...

A space exploration game I've been working on

Yeah you can just run the executable from its folder if you want to play offline. The only thing that won't work is multiplayer & achievements, because that's all built on the Steam subsystem.

A space exploration game I've been working on

Space Engine is incredible, but it's designed for a specific task and its engine really doesn't have the scope for what it is I want to achieve. For example, every aspect of the starship is fully simulated, right down to the electrical wiring. It's not just a bridge simulator, it's an entire...

A space exploration game I've been working on

PC only for now, it will be (free) on Steam. The minimum spec will be around an i5 with 16GB RAM and a GTX980 with at least 4GB VRAM.

A space exploration game I've been working on

Hey everyone, it's been such a long time since I last posted here. With life, work, covid and various other things I just haven't had the time to keep up with my Refit project. (She's not dead, just resting for now) I really needed to turn my hobby into something more productive, so I've taken...

    Building The Enterprise Refit

Well, funnily enough I'm absolutely planning a video for YouTube to do just that - take the stripped down skeleton of the TOS Enterprise and perform the Refit in realtime. Before I can go back and do that though, I need to get the Refit itself completely planned out and finished. Then I can...

    Building The Enterprise Refit

Ooh no, I'll watch that, thanks :)

    Building The Enterprise Refit

I've been looking at how the internal rooms of the ship fit into its physical structure, because in many ways one defines the other, and they have to compliment one another. To that end I've been playing around with the central core of the saucer, keeping with the block-based methodology of...

Fantastic work so far! I know from experience how much patience and perseverance it takes to complete a project like this. Your willpower is immense :D

I've really grown to genuinely love "The Search for Spock."

I treat TWOK and TSFS as basically one long film, and always watch them as such. And you can even add TVH to that and make it even longer :P I definitely prefer TWOK over TSFS, but despite its flaws TSFS is still very enjoyable to watch. Plus Captain Styles and his little stick always make me...

    Building The Enterprise Refit

That's one of the really interesting and fun aspects of a project like this - taking what's currently possible and projecting it forward ~225 years. Or even less to be honest, the NX-01 should start being built in about 130 years from now :D Given that we are already 3D printing orbital-class...

    Donny's Klingon Stuff

Looking good! Do you know a way of having localised volumetric fog within UE? I've been wanting to use it to simulate dust and generate light shafts, but it always extends outwards to infinity. I want to keep it contained within a box volume.

    Building The Enterprise Refit

So, the things @BK613 pointed out regarding modern ship construction have really been bugging me, and it's prompted me to look into the subject a lot deeper. I've been watching a lot of things like this as a result :P Based on the principle of modular, block-based construction I've been...

Terminus Timeline - Ships and Interiors

Loving the renders, makes me really want a CGI Trek series set in the TOS era!

U.S.S. Enterprise - how many decks?

Based on a 305m scale for the Refit Enterprise, I've found that I can fit 9 decks comfortably in the saucer. That's with each deck being 8' tall and separated by 1'3" beams. The bottom saucer deck is barely a deck at all, but you can fit a room and a small corridor down there. I'll take a look...

    Building The Enterprise Refit

The internal framework is still heavily under construction, with additional lateral bracing now installed between the main radial beams. Additional lugs and brackets will soon be welded into place to allow for the installation of critical hardware, the first of which will be externally charged...

Oooh nice, I've been looking forward to seeing this :D

    Building The Enterprise Refit

The saucer framework is now connected to the core ring sections, which will later be significantly reinforced to protect the main computer and EPS hardware that will reside within. Here we can see down the central shaft which will house the main computer stack, from a vantage point on what will...
