Something I never understood is WHY the Titan was heavily redesigned. I’m not talking about in universe. Have the filmmakers ever explained why they decided to do away with the original Titan design and completely make up a new one? The new design always seemed like a pointless change.
Of all the potential Star Trek 4 versions that came and went, I wish we got the Tarantino film. I don’t really care if it would have derailed the film series or not, I just like the idea of Tarantino coming in and doing whatever the hell he wanted in the sandbox that is a Star Trek film. I...
I honestly don’t see much of a future for Trek in cinema. The first ten films had the gimmick of being glorified reunion films. The Kelvin films were Paramount’s honest stab at turning Star Trek into a tentpole franchise along with Transformers and the MCU (before Disney bought it up) but that...
Why do people try to insist the 1701 is smaller than it actually is? Is it some kind of form of modesty? Does the ship being over 400 meters instead of 200 somehow ruin anything?
I said I would hope, that’s not the same as me thinking he can.
Infinitely better, but that’s only because that’s how bad S31 was. Admittedly that’s a low bar. If Tarantino actually did his film with Chris Pine, best I could hope for is a movie that ranks right in the middle with the films...
I would be fine with Tarantino doing a film because the movies never mattered as much to me. The first ten films were glorified reunion specials, and the Kelvin films were Paramount’s attempt turn Trek into a billion dollar franchise that didn’t pan out. They could literally do whatever they...
Yeah “starship” was supposed to be a special class separate from freighters and such, rather than just a general description of interstellar ships. I think her saying she’s never seen a starship is just one of those weird thing we just need to hand wave like Lester’s claim of Starfleet not...
I thought UPN had a single program schedule for the whole country? At least in my area, Voyager and Enterprise had occupied Wednesday 9pm (until the last season of ENT, which got moved to Friday 8pm.)
To be fair, the syndication market for DS9 had also changed throughout the 90s, which made it less prolific compared to TNG in its height. I’ve read horror stories of DS9 only airing around midnight or after.
Being in LA area, I was actually lucky that my affiliate KCOP 13 would air DS9 on...
You mean streaming or theatrical? I don’t think he really has much influence on the latter, despite his involvement in the Kelvin films. As for streaming, I think they never truly planned on branching out with those. SECTION 31 was supposed to be a series, and only happened because Michelle Yeoh...
Thing is that Paramount does license their shows. I just checked and found YELLOWJACKETS and SHAMELESS there.
Then of course there’s PRODIGY, but that felt more like a dumping than something that was actually pushed. It certainly wouldn’t get the kind of viewership a live action series would have.
Paramount should swallow their pride and license their shows on Netflix, while keeping new seasons exclusive. That's how AMC works with Netflix. It's not only a great way to gain more fans, but it can potentially bring those fans over to Paramount+ when they want to catch the latest seasons...
Doesn’t look like they’re moving on, they’re doubling down.
That PSA at the end of the first new episode was labeled “Pro-Trump PSA 1 of 50”. The deal they signed on was for 50 new episodes, which sounds like they’re gonna make 49 more “Pro-Trump” PSAs…
STAR TREK is a much more flexible format than something like HILL STREET BLUES. I’m assuming the latter didn’t have episodes like “I, Mudd” where the characters would do interpretive dancing and play acting for most of the final act.
Didn’t realize her second appearance was intended as her first, and that the reference to having “just signed on” was a carry over meant to reflect that first appearance. Thanks for sharing.
“Jumping the Shark” is not something you would immediately recognize when watching the show live. This is something only noticed retrospectively. In fact the term “jump the shark” wasn’t actually coined until 1985, about a year after HAPPY DAYS had already ended.
