Pros of Unification I & II :
Spock, Spock, where is SPOCK? (Ooh, the anticipation!)
Seeing Perin again.
Sarek's Bendi breakdown.
Picard and Data's Romulan makeover.
Spock and Data's talk about being 'Human'.
Picard's mind meld with Spock, and the Vulcan's anguished tears.
"Suck salt? It's a...
Here's how I see the events of Unification III, which I gave a rating of 10, the highest of the season so far.
Data was with Picard through most of Unification I & II, and he records everything in his memory files, so that's how they had Spock's speech on record.
Tilly is super smart, thinks...
I like Discovery and Picard fine, but it is nice to have new Trek in episodic form. I can tune in and not have to worry about "Previously on Star Trek...". Stand alone episodes can be watched at random, and are more distinctive. I am not into binging ten hours of a show and then done with it...
Lower Decks seems like The Orville without the poop jokes or reference to current pop culture. At first look it seems like a fun way to play in Star Treks sand box. I rated it a 7.
Nice to see the Continues sets getting used for new fan films. Acting was acceptable, script could use some polish to smooth out those tonal shifts from humor to horror. Let's see more.
A pity this mediocre episode garners so much attention for it's socially relevant theme. The striking half black, half white make up on the guest stars helps in that regard. That was a last minute change by the director. I wonder how the original Angel vs. Devil conception would have played out...
The sadistic brutality exhibited by the Platonians may be appropriate for the story being told, but it's just damn uncomfortable for the viewer. When Kirk is playing horsey with Alexander on his back I don't know whether to laugh at the actors or cry with the characters. It does keep your...
Bought my copy at a local brick&mortar for $39.95. I don't mind supporting a real store for five bucks once in a while. Cost per episode is still cheaper than the $100 TNG-ENT sets I bought back in the day.
Watched the first two episodes and the special features on disc one. Looks and sounds...
"The Tholian Web" is a good episode, except for McCoy's irrational antagonism toward Spock. The Doctor seems unaffected by the interphase space madness until a twinge at the end, but he really lays it onto the acting Captain for no logical reason. They seem to make up after viewing Kirk's final...
"Day of the Dove" has great dialogue, action, visual effects, and Michael Ansara. He's a powerful presence.
Despite OTT hysterial acting by the main cast DOD could have been from the first or second seasons. A character driven morality play with high stakes.
Kang comes in a close second to...
How long was the landing party sitting on the bridge while under the spell of the Melkotian's illusion? What was the rest of the crew doing? Did this all take place in an instant?
Did they get a gun as a memento? -Picard got a flute for his mind warp.
Not to project a TNG ship's counselor onto TOS, but if ever there was a time for a psychologist with PTSD training to appear, it was now. Helen Noel, or a Dr. Dehner type may have fit the bill. These kids just had the most traumatic experience a child could have, the death of BOTH parents, and...
What a shame an original score was wasted on this dog of an episode. 'Ring around the rosey', indeed. The hand wank DUNT-DUUNT is lame too. Did any of this score get used in future episodes, or was it better left in the Gorgan's grave yard?
It was good, I voted a 7.
If you added an A story about the bridge crew investigating a strange dilithium signal, and a C story about the hormonal space rabbit, you'd have a so so Voyager episode.
That sounds harsher than I intended, but for what it was, it was good to have any new Trek.
Despite the third season opener "Spock's Brain", after last weeks "Enterprise Incident", the new year is going strong with "Paradise Syndrome". It won't be until next week with "And The Children Shall Lead" that some serious stink hits the airwaves.
Great location shooting, character building...
Joanne Linville really made the part of the Romulan Commander her own. It seems she specialized in strong scheming women. I next watched her in Hawaii 5-0 episode 'Once Upon a Time', from a few months later. Here she is a quack faith healer, with computers, who is smitten with MacGarret, and...
