Did pre refit constitution class ships have vertical warp cores?

I don't think so. Based on onscreen evidence the original Enterprise appears to have had three matter anti-matter reactors. Two were likely the glowing balls on the end of each nacelle and the third is presumably in the engineering hull.

    I need encouragement with Voyager

Voyager has some great episodes, and it has some really bad ones. But mostly Voyager is just 'meh.

A question about the Botany Bay.

I remember discussion of this occurring but I don't specifically recall these instances. Any help would be appreciated.

    Captain Kirk's Name

I think the two middle names works best for me. James Tiberius Rubrius Kirk It's not a bug, it's a feature.

    Why no women captains?

If I remember right, Pike turns around and Colt almost bumps into him. That's what prompted the comment. So I think it can be quite easily understood that what he meant is, "I'm not used to having THAT woman on the bridge." His former Yeoman would have been used to his movements and patterns and...

    TOS Prequel #4

No. i think it's spot on as a statement about the types of stories being told. Fan fic has generally been about connecting all the dots and coming up with convoluted stories to promote favorite characters. That is of course a generalization. But a story I would consider fan ficy would be V'GER...

    Why no women captains?

Considering they can't possibly exist in the same continuity, based on onscreen evidence alone, I don't see how that would fix it.

    Why no women captains?

...and have her be part of Star Trek continuity? :wah: NOOOO!

    TOS Prequel #4

Is that what that means? Holy F@¢# I'm sick of this. Why does EVERYTHING have to be about Trump? Why can't people just shut up about it? So now wanting a certain type of Star Trek is equivalent to MAGA now huh?

    TOS Prequel #4

ENT was basically TNG with different names. Hardly a good prequel. Setting aside the writing and acting, in my opinion it shouldn't have featured the Klingons, it should have been the ring ship, we shouldn't have seen the Romulans or cloaking device. No transporters, or phase(r) pistols, or...

    TOS Prequel #4

Exactly. A prequel series should evoke the early series weirdness rather than playing into the tired tropes of TNG.

    Not accurate enough.

    TOS Prequel #4

CGI recreations of Jeffrey Hunter and other cast members of "The Cage" as well as accurate reproduction of the sets, writing, and filming styles. Basically, I want it to be like they found a bunch of episodes locked away in a vault and are just now releasing them. That's what I want.

    TOS Prequel #4

Personally I'm not interested. I'll wait for a proper prequel that actually fits with the original series.

    Why no women captains?

Kooky is definitely a word that fits Janice Lester. I think she knew what she wanted, but hadn't necessarily thought it through. Yes. It's sort of a middle ground solution. I think the evidence indicates that there are not equal numbers of men and women in Starfleet. Is indicated by Gary...

    Why no women captains?

I have no idea. Many women in the mind 23rd century apparently. Perhaps in the 23rd century promotions are based on objective criteria rather than an assessment of the individual's projected career length.

    Why no women captains?

Keep in mind I think it's reasonable to interpret "world of starship captains" to refer to captains of Starship class vessels, like the U.S.S. Enterprise. Kirk mentions there are twelve like her, so we know there are at least 12 Starship class ships. However, we don't know if there are any more...
