    The Edge of Midnight: Masterthread

Good lord. I am absolutely floored by this piece of work. The intracacy involved. The amount of lore and the passion for not just Trek, but politics in general. It is so good, it makes me want to be interested in history in general. How? How does this happen? It's addictive reading.

Spoilers Where should Star Trek go next?

Not to be controversial, but I think the next Star Trek show should go to space.

I love the size of this room. That's all.

How would you re-imagine and reboot Enterprise?

I mean, I love the original idea of "Right Stuff" but with Star Trek iconography. That absolutely rules. And changes what Star Trek can be while still being Star Trek. We're literally building what Star Trek will be. Here's how Starfleet as we know it was done.

All Good Things is the best TNG Episode

Of course, all of your points are excellent and perfect. And I agree with them. I'm also going to be very basic. I love AGT because the Enterprise-D has 3 nacelles, goes ultra fast, and has a cloaking device.

What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Season 3 of Discovery is finally when the show gets good. I remember sighing in relief in the first 5 minutes of the first episode. It finally found a point of view. It had a characterization of Burnham besides "whatever the plot dictates." And was free of the shackles of canon.

So What Are you Reading?: Generations

Reading Vanguard: What Judgments Come. It's, uhhh....it's taking a while. I don't know why exactly.

    TMP- Which "version" and why?

I love the Special Longer Version. The things that were removed for the Theatrical/Director's Editions seemed to be character beats. It does stall the pacing of the movie, buuuuuuut it needs some person to person interaction. Special Longer Version has more of those.

If there was an S3 of Short Treks, what do you expect to see?

Vignettes during the Romulan War would be fun. Wildly different perspectives. I want experiments in Trek storytelling. I don't want to necessarily see things I recognize. I want original stories that are just short? Except for an episode on the Enterprise B with Alan Ruck. More B, please. I...

Why Is "Into Darkness" So [imagine a different, more accurate past participle here]?

Star Trek Into Darkness is my least favorite. For me, its biggest offenses are: 1) A repetition of the exact same character arc for Kirk as from 2009 Star Trek. He needs to learn a lesson in responsibility. Okay. 2) Using the 'member-berry of Star Trek II as a massive emotional climax for two...

What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

I'm not sure if this is controversial, buuuuuut They should do a Star Trek show without Starfleet and the Federation. All of Roddenberry's idealism, but with none of the bureaucracy elements. I just want to see what that would look like.

What’s your favorite Star Trek book?

At this point, it's a toss-up: The Way to the Stars by Una McCormack - I didn't know I needed a YA boarding school adventure in my Star Trek. That surprise, coupled with Una's magnificent writing, made this stand out. Articles of the Federation by Keith R.A. DeCandido - Nan Bacco doing...

    Star Trek: Axanar

By that train of logic, anyone that makes any film with something morally reprehensible means it's an act of condoning the offending behavior on the filmmaker's part. So a film that would be about decrying misogynistic tendencies would still be in the wrong because it depicts misogyny. I could...

    Fan Film Writer's Primer

Sorry, just stumbled upon this thing. Sure, yeah, technobabble in House, CSI, and Star Trek are just fine for the laymen, but it's not great storytelling. For week to week, having to churn out 24 episodes in ten months, it works. You try to churn out 24 episodes. You're probably going to have...
