    Twizzler commercial???

I don't watch much TV, but I just saw this commercial while visiting my mom for Christmas. I thought it was awesome! I haven't seen much Star Trek this year, so this really made me feel happy. The homage to TMP with the warp effect was actually really cool with the TOS Enterprise. Now I wanna...

How do I start my roommate on Star Trek?

I pretty much love Star Trek. My roommate; however, is kinda scared to watch it. He hasn't seen much science fiction before I moved into the apartment. However, when I got him to watch the new Battlestar Galatica, my roommate got hooked and loved it (except he hated the last episode)! Besides...

Speed of light is not perfectly constant in vacuum!

This effect must have been incredibly small to have gone unnoticed by now. I honestly doubt its real.

    Ramming planets at warp velocity!

Warp drives take energy to operate. So whatever energy is used to generate the subspace field would be dissipated into the environment by the conversation of energy. The total destructive energy has an upper bound of whatever store of antimatter is aboard (ignoring chemical explosives and...

Mars Curiosity Rover... to land 10:31 pm 8/5/2012

I have more faith that it can work. The skycrane is kind of an evolution of the airbag system used on Mars Pathfinder. In both cases, jets reduce the velocity of the craft to zero. The differences: Pathfinder was cut from a higher altitude, so it had to bounce, hence the reason for the airbags...

Riverside Shipyard - in Google Maps!

SpaceX rockets are constructed in California, but flown in Florida. The engines and other equipment are tested in Texas. That's just in the 21st century! I don't think it matters very much where a starship is built on the Earth in the 23rd century.

Doctor Who av contest- Dial M AND VOTE!

Voted. I really liked the character of Miss Evangelista. That avatar made me miss her.

Doctor Who Mini-Episode Good As Gold

Doctor Who is a children's program, after all.

Matt Smith to carry the Olympic Torch

His shirt was (NX-)0011, but the crack ate the last 1. ;-)

Dr Who av contest: Dial M for...

Dial W for WHO, dial M for MHO. So naturally the first thing that came to my mind was an upside-down Doctor.... I don't actually intend to enter the competition, just amuse myself. lol

Dr Who av contest: Dial M for...

(It's just a bad joke. Sorry.)

    Why Deuterium/Anti-deuterium?

The distance pions, muons, etc can travel before decaying depends on their speed too. If you don't accelerate them quickly, they don't travel far. If you accelerate them to relativistic speeds, they can travel very far. Your numbers (at least for pions) are for relativistic speeds.

    That Minefield

I thought that the solution that the Dominion devised was clever. By isolating each mine with an (anti) graviton field, they are basically projecting a cloak around each mine, blocking the outside. So they don't know when their neighbor was destroyed, and they don't replicate more mines.

Physicists at CERN have recorded particles moving faster than light

Re: Physicists at CERN have recorded particles moving faster than ligh The OPERA results were actually found to be inconsistent with another neutrino experiment. From this blog: Basically, if the neutrinos were traveling faster than light, then they would start emitting particles (sort of...

The Dalek civil war trilogy or "Rs of the Daleks"

They're time travelers. The Doctor fetched the remains of the Master at an earlier point in their history.

    Federation Cube Ship

I agree with FordSVT. Just because some engineering constraints make a sphere more logical doesn't mean it's the most important constraint. Squares are easier to construct. You can combine several square modules to create a bigger square. You can't do that with smaller spheres. You always have...

    The 11 Doctors

Personally, I'd be happy with a "Tribbles & Trial-ations" style cross-over. Let's see a classic story told from a new perspective.

    SG-U – Resurgence - (2x10) - (Discuss – Grade | SPOILERS)

My theory is that the Asgard from The Lost Tribe somehow discovered the existence of Destiny, gated there, and took most of the equipment. Hence why their suits are almost identical to the ones on Destiny, why the life support systems on Destiny were initially spent (explaining why would the CO2...

Cheapest way to make artificial gravity?

You are completely wrong! Einstein's principle is partly where the math for working out the gravity from black holes works. ;)

    Time for a Cybermen redesign?

I don't know, I feel the Mondasian Cybermen were some of the most ridiculous races from Doctor Who. The entire idea of another Earth that was opposite of the Sun is ridiculous and I had a hard time suspending my disbelief. Also, by the end of the series, they seemed to be so neutered, with gold...
