News Starfleet Academy Coming to P+

Well I said POTENTIAL :) Given the premise, the people involved, and I what I believe PARA wants to do with ST, I don't think it falling short of S31 is a long shot. The small bit of images I saw today certainly didn't help.

News Starfleet Academy Coming to P+

This looks like it has potential to be worse than S31.

Spoilers STAR TREK: SECTION 31 - Grading & Discussion

I thought it was excellent. Sometimes with great media people don't "get it" right away. It takes time to recognize its brilliance. Similar to Discovery, people will eventually see how good it is. It will age well.

Spoilers STAR TREK: SECTION 31 - Grading & Discussion

Are you not familiar with Alex Kurtzman?

Poll Do you intend to watch SECTION 31?

I'll only watch it so I can make fun of it on the internet afterwards.

Which series would you want next?

Matalas Trek is too nostalgia heavy. This franchise needs to move forward and stop using its past as a crutch.

    Your postmortem thoughts on DISCO

I just felt like there was never anyone particularly talented running the show. There's so much quality serialized TV nowadays, and DSC was always subpar comparatively in terms of writing. It had its fair share of cringe also. PIC seasons 1 and 2 were probably worse, but thanks to S3, DSC...

Spoilers Section 31 General Discussion Thread

More than a third of House of the Dragon's viewership is under 34 years of age. And this is a show written by an old white guy involving a medieval setting. Younger viewers are watching the show because its GOOD.

Spoilers Section 31 General Discussion Thread

I got into Star Trek from watching TNG when I was about 8 years old. It's another anecdote, but my niece and nephew got into Trek from watching TNG re-runs when they were in their teens and pre teens. Neither of them like the new Trek shows.

Spoilers Section 31 General Discussion Thread

Point being that you don't need to pander to age demographics. Just make something good. Stop trend chasing. Young people aren't as stupid as adults think. Putting hip hop music in this won't get teenagers to watch.

Spoilers Section 31 General Discussion Thread

How many of you in here got into Star Trek when you were a kid or relatively young? I did. It's anecdotal, but I think most fans got into the franchise when they were young and it's not like those old shows were made to specifically target young viewers.

Spoilers Section 31 General Discussion Thread

Paramount is probably looking at ST fan demographic data and seeing they don't have many sub middle age fans. This trailer and the academy show feel like misguided attempts to address that issue. Of course the reason P+ Star Trek doesn't have many young viewers is likely because the shows are...

Spoilers Section 31 General Discussion Thread

That trailer was laughably bad. They're trying so hard to make Star Trek "cool" but are just coming off as lame instead.

    News WB/Paramount merger talks

Dan? I don't think so. He's not Doomcock. He doesn't occupy that space. I think he does a good job with his punditry. One of the more reasonable guys around.

News The ongoing next Star Trek movie thread

Too many cooks in the kitchen (what's new?). It's in Paramount's best interest to have the lowest budget they can possibly get away with, meanwhile Bad Robot probably wants the biggest budget possible. When there was buzz about a Tarantino ST film, it was still reportedly going through JJ. In...

News The ongoing next Star Trek movie thread

Why is JJ / Bad Robot producing again? I thought their deal with Paramount wasn't renewed in 2018?

CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar 2 - Electric Boogaloo-Fanboys gone WILD-too many hyphens

Speaking of the IRS, Axanar Productions is required to pay taxes on the money raised via crowdfunding. Business expenses would be deducted from that. Looking at how Peters was spending money, it seems highly likely that he claimed personal / recreational expenses as tax deductions.

CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar 2 - Electric Boogaloo-Fanboys gone WILD-too many hyphens

Axanar Production's bank account statements have been published online. Surprise! Tons of transactions on the account have nothing to do with producing an actual movie. There's purchases for dating websites, sex shops, Warhammer stuff, memorabilia, an eye doctor, supplements and so on and so...
