I would say Season 2 it was more comparable in "badness" to DSCO's and LD's opening seasons, but it was much more transitional and formulaic than experimental and tonally off like those shows.

Season 3 is fanwank when looking at the dry cliffnotes, however the cast ensemble, the starship duel, the right mix of realistic violence and principled optimism, plus attention paid to small details that really made it very successful (IMO).
