    Spoilers Andor - Season 2

Rogue One was always a solid film, but the first two thirds were, IMO, a bit overrated and stiff on first viewing (with the Battle of Scarif saving the film). Andor was a more refined and deliberate passion project. The Last Jedi had passion and personality to it (with brilliant visual flare)...

    Spoilers Andor - Season 2

Finished it a few days ago and the best aspect of Andor is that it runs with the old concept of the Galactic Empire being a slightly cartoonish pastiche of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan (but in space) but depicting it in a more adult, banal, sinister, and poignant way. The Empire's a...

    Poll Rank the Picard Seasons

Exactly (Season 2 of PIC is better than Season 1 of DSCO at least), S2's several decent or exciting enough episodes book ending general "meh" episodes (though the rambling ICE subplot sadly came true in RL like DS9's time travel episodes with the dystopian corporate mini-dictatorship). Plus...

    Poll Rank the Picard Seasons

Yeah, Season 1 has much going for it still years later, even if Chabon's ideas and script got kinda lost in translation (he's a novelist not a seasoned TV script writer). Picard's main problem is that Season 2 is objectively inferior to Seasons 1 & 3 (either due to Patrick Stewart's ego...

I finished Dark Skies TV series, now starting Space Above And Beyond

Dark Skies was an OK show for its time but already felt a little too derivative to stick out (with The X-Files juggernaut and the UFO craze being a thing in the mid to late 1990s), but what made it memorable or aged it better was the convincing 1960s setting when rewatching it decades later.

    News Val Kilmer (1959-2025)

And with Tom Cruise, Daniel Craig, Ming-Na Wen, and Michelle Yeoh not so far off from Val Kilmer's age in his last shortened years (still leaping off from the sides of buildings, etc), it hits home how awful and unfair his cancer and its complications were...:(

    News Val Kilmer (1959-2025)

Very, very handsome man, a bit of a pompous clown in RL, but still deserved better than going out at a still quite young age, after a decade of rather cruel health problems. The 2nd Top Gun film was a worthy send off for him.

    Poll Rank the Picard Seasons

I can understand the hate for Season 2, but at least Season 1 tried so many different ideas and stuff, love it or hate it (even though it's relatively sad Season 3 kinda backtracked and in parts was fanfiction on steroids).

What is the best relationship Seven of Nine had (platonic or romantic) on Voyager?

Wow, sorry I stepped on people's tails with my pet theory or assumption about Seven's "retcon" with her personal life, when in RL it's not so crazy when you have a existing pool of middle aged lesbian or bisexual women who were ostensibly hetrosexual when in their teens and twenties (with...

What is the best relationship Seven of Nine had (platonic or romantic) on Voyager?

I now think Seven's more serious, relatively brief relationship with Commander Chakotay feeling "off" is now unintentional fridge brilliance when a more independent, human Seven in the intervening twenty years settled on more or less being a lesbian woman (after exploring her sexuality as a...

Ok. What is the chance of a Picard spinoff?

They own MANY guns, not all of the guns, and due to evil eventually being self-sabotaging they'll be very fratricidal and make too many new enemies in a pretty vast, diverse continent they're trying to control and extract with an iron fist.

Ok. What is the chance of a Picard spinoff?

I'm puzzled about Paramount's future actually, let alone Star Trek, now that the United States of America may be sliding towards literal bloody revolution.

    Poll Rank the Picard Seasons

I would say Season 2 it was more comparable in "badness" to DSCO's and LD's opening seasons, but it was much more transitional and formulaic than experimental and tonally off like those shows.

Why the hate for Alex Kurtzman?

Season 3 is fanwank when looking at the dry cliffnotes, however the cast ensemble, the starship duel, the right mix of realistic violence and principled optimism, plus attention paid to small details that really made it very successful (IMO).
  18. TedShatner10

Why the hate for Alex Kurtzman?

And now they're declaring the impending doom and demise of the Star Trek franchise once again after S31 sadly but predictably bombed, when less than a couple of years ago S3 of Picard was a smash hit, DSCO became a long running show, Lower Decks is seen as arguably the best amongst fans/critics...
