As I said in the finale thread, it's probably my favourite series in the franchise. Just a wonderful love letter to the the past and the current slate of Trek shows. Also perhaps the best crew in Trek that really captured the found family feeling so naturally.

I think they were designed to be 10 episode "arcs" like the first season. Of course this was probably meant to air weekly as well, which likely impacts the pacing as well.

Prodigy's nostalgia isn't dependent on any knowledge of Voyager or other shows though. For its intended audience, their parents would have been children or teens when Voyager came out, so it's not counting on people knowing who Janeway is at least.
