21st Century Books and 21st Century Slang

Few things are as dated in Star Trek for me as the use of "in the zone" on Deep Space Nine, and that has nothing to do with cursing.

How long will it take for season 2 of Star Trek Prodigy to be released in Canada?

You may be thinking of the series Family Law, which is produced by a Canadian network (Global), filmed in Vancouver, and set in Vancouver...but is still over a season behind in airing on that network, despite ostensibly being its "home" for broadcasting purposes!

Christopher Priest's proposed Star Trek comic

I could see this kind of premise potentially working--after all, there are those who would say the Federation is nothing more than a "Homo Sapiens Only" club.
  4. TheAlmanac

    New Trek TV/ Media continuity

People in this thread are overestimating both what is (supposedly) obvious to anyone and who is (supposedly) paying attention, along with underestimating what needs to be forthrightly stated to such an audience.

    E-Book Pricing Alerts

Thirteen books purchased this time around...possibly a new record for me and these deals.

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Pike series and novel continuity

That's what Smallville ultimately did, establishing that the "Jimmy Olsen" we'd watched for several seasons who was a photographer at The Daily Planet was not in fact the Jimmy Olsen destined to have the same job and become Superman's pal.

    FASA's TNG Officer's Manual

It would've been interesting to see FASA's take on Nimbus III and the denizens of Paradise City.

    Indiana Jones 5. It's official.

In the words of Picard's sister-in-law, "This is a very old argument." Hot takes about how Indiana Jones is a bad (immoral) and/or bad (reckless) archaeologist have been made since 1981. Putting one out there now seems both belated and redundant. Three of the five movies in the Shaft...

Spoilers I really would like to read a novel set during the PIC Season 3 finale

Given the topic being discussed, I thought I would look at some of the specific ships on that page which are namesakes for Starfleet ships. The first entry I clicked on was the USS Constellation, which turns out to have been...recommissioned during World War II, after it was already in the...

    The Bickleys

I haven't looked at any of my DC letter column appearances in a long time. I would probably find most of them embarrassing.

Spoilers New Picard TV Series and Litverse Continuity (may contain TV show spoilers)

I'm just wondering how Ro's nasal ridges faded to almost nothing over the years.

Does anyone here like Blood And Treasure?

I would love to, but there is currently no (legitimate) way to watch the second season on any Canadian network or streaming service.

    2023 book releases

Surely, "New Frontiers" (or whatever subsequent title you prefer for that same Mirror Universe story) is in the running?

Spoilers Star Trek: Prodigy and the Novels

In light of these questions of artistic design (especially considering how some tie-ins have endeavoured to walk the line recently between the ways in which TOS and DSC/SNW have depicted the same era), what I found most interesting was that the Enterprise bridge consoles and shuttlecraft were...

    LDS comics

I enjoyed the first issue--I thought North captured the character voices fairly well, as evidenced by my ability to "hear" the dialogue being performed by the voice actors, and I didn't think the references were overdone (that is to say, they were more or less proportional to references on the...

Spoilers When does The Battle of Betazed take place?

FWIW, I asked Michael Okuda about this very issue back when Insurrection came out (because it doesn't have a stardate), and he replied that one should assume it to be contemporaneous with the DS9 episodes airing around its release.

Ncuti Gatwa is the 15th Doctor

That bridge was already crossed for me, but these comments point to another milestone--this is the first Doctor born after the classic series ended, during The Wilderness Years.

Star Trek: TOS - Harm's Way by David Mack - Nov 2022

I believe the regular Czech novel translations are still going, are they not?

Spoilers New Picard TV Series and Litverse Continuity (may contain TV show spoilers)

Not that I disagree, but this is essentially saying, "Aside from the things that were different, everything was the same!" Well...yeah. All this is basically a variation on the classic "Why would a superhero universe share our popular culture?" complaint/nitpick/observation. The "real" answer...

Spoilers New Picard TV Series and Litverse Continuity (may contain TV show spoilers)

You would think a group of showrunners making a sequel to "Assignment: Earth," a TOS episode which postulated multiple nations launching orbital nuclear platforms in 1968, would be more comfortable with the idea that this franchise's version of the present day has always been different from our...
