It is certainly in-universe, but not completely sure how this will regularly present as "Trek". Tawny has earned the benefit of the doubt, but this is an awfully big leap.

The "basically the same age" is a dodge. Her best friend from the Academy is a Captain, she has served on the Ent-D during the "Descent" era (10-11 years prior to Lower Decks), and on DS9, with the show hinting this was probably during the Dominion War (6-9 years prior to Lower Decks). She...

A big thumbs up, and I actually enjoy Trek ... all of it. I haven't laughed at a (non-LDS) episode like this in awhile. It really was time for something that uses all the Trek tropes correctly, and takes them seriously enough. Ethan Peck is a standout. No Pike/Spock slash allowed...
