    Building my own star ship

Working on the turbolift shafts. I started thinking well they need to be snug to the vertical tubes and have the emergency grips so they don't fall... in space :brickwall: ...and decided not to and just accepted that any ship that can create gravity can un-create gravity in specific areas. So...

    Building my own star ship

Right, I'm gonna have come back to you on this. I want to try and see if I can set a material colour to black and then overlay the graphic with an alpha channel. But I have the feeling it wont work, but right now I know NOTHING about nodes! XD If you have any beginners walk-throughs...send them...

    Building my own star ship

Well it's been 2 1/2 months, sorry about that. :p Yeah that was my thought too, shame there wasn't anything on screen about it. So got back to working on the rooms behind/around the transporter. It's turning into a pre-mission prep area, so some equipment cabinets, suits, storage containers...

    Building my own star ship

A few shots of the supporting structure around the transporter platform. I want to show the technology behind it so I'll be adding top, bottom and side "tech", as well as the ability to access it via walkways and ladders etc.

    Building my own star ship

I always wondered what was off to the side of a transporter room. A room full of computer banks? The loo? So...I've done both. Think I need a computer terminal on the end of those racks, and a desk in there somewhere. *the man was borrowed from here. And it's going to cover three...

    Building my own star ship

Wasn't too pleased with how the transporter room was laid out first time, so I rebuilt it focussing on the symmetry, and especially the structure of the ceiling (I'm a big fan of those TNG/VOY deep lighting hole-things, and I've put some plasma tubey things in the floor. Not sold on them yet...

    Building my own star ship

Hellooooooo again. Another month gone. Built an actual garden wall. Fiddled with trek-nessing Endless Sky. It was fun. Needed the distraction and a fresh perspective. So, re-built the doors because they were just solid red. And it was a tough call between voy-style and ent-e-style. But it came...

    Building my own star ship

I'm just using bevels and solid colours tbh. There's no advanced texturing or materials going on. Straight corridor sections are 24,580 tris, 3-way junction is 14,882, 4-way junction is 5,088. But there's only one model of each of them. Every other use of those models are instances so I don't...

    Building my own star ship

Erm... it's a 3ghz Core 2 Duo! Trying desperately to run Ubuntu 20 with 6gb of ram. And a AMD Tahiti(?) Radeon 7950 or something, and I'm sure it's got a little graphics ram in there somewhere... Render times are terrible but building isn't too bad. I don't know if this is good or...

    Building my own star ship

Thanks y'all. :) I've broken down each of the tube junctions in to 9 sections including; ceiling with lights, ceiling with hole, wall with ladder, door, etc, each in four orientations and dynamically linked to the objects I'm setting up here. So I build a junction object by object and it...

    Building my own star ship

It's been ages since I posted, life got in the way. Go figure. :p While thinking about how to route the Jefferies tubes I've come to the conclusion that there's not much room for as many as I would assume. Same thing about the turbo lifts. So I'm going to look at a single or double loop in the...

    Building my own star ship

Love some legacy software! :) I installed Windows 3.11 for Workgroups in VMWare just for the memories, so I get how you can stick to what works for you. Right, I've never embedded a video before but here goes. Where my corridors are built around 4x4m I've built the jefferies tube junctions as...

    Building my own star ship

Omg, it would have been so much easier just knocking it up in illustrator! XD But seriously, you should get a copy of blender and just try making the corridors, it's not as hard as you thinkg ;) :barf: This one works for me... I'm working on the transporter rooms, they're basic...

    Building my own star ship

This corridor layout thing seems to be working, minus the occasional I'm-drunk-and-probably-shouldn't-be-doing-this-right-now errors, but I'm fixing them as I find them. :p

    Building my own star ship

Hmm, gold trim could work, although I'd work it in sparingly for effect, and the teal/turquoise could work for medical areas? I'll look at adding the burnt orange in to (not sure what deck it is yet)-forward. I like the idea of that a lot. For now I've been working on setting up the corridors...

Ta! Slow and steadily descending in to madness... :) Internal layout for the crew quarters. I should really find another colour than brown, even if it is just for a basic look! XD

    Building my own star ship

:) Thanks, it's not Toy Story, but I'll take it! Pretty much just pressed the denoiser, upped the passes and used emission lighting on some surfaces. As much as I'd like to take credit it's mostly youtube! XD After aligning the floor plan within the corridor constraints and deciding where the...

    Building my own star ship

Thanks, I've added a few things like those hanging wires... don't ask me what they're for! I'll come back to it when I have some more inspiration. I've also had a little play with the computer core but I'm not sure where I'm going with it so that's on hold at the moment. So I moved to the...

    Building my own star ship

Ok, I've rebuild the impulse engines to point backwards, and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Pulled the original saucer shape off a previous model, built it out and attached it to the most recent one.
