I watched TOS in its original run with my dad. I couldn't have been anymore than 5 years old. I thought Spock was weird, Kirk was a jerk, but Uhura was beautiful. I knew then that I wanted to grow up to be just like her. I followed TOS re-runs through the 70s, the movies in the 80s along with...
Dump on him all you want but for those of us who have met him we know the truth. If he was a very nice man who was super shy. He'll always be my hero and I regret deeply that I never had the opportunity to work with him.
Don't link it to any previous episode or series. Go completely new that way there are no expectations. Any word as to who has been signed on as writers and/or producers?
Star Trek on special access channel? Sound to me like CBS isn't serious about producing good Trek but prostitutionalizing it to get people to subscribe. If that's the case don't be surprised folks if this series stinks too. They could be bring on the big names to get the public to subscribe and...
Roddenberry always complained he never had enough time to fully develop ST episodes because he didn't have enough time. TNG was on a bi-weekly schedule because of this and he was happy and it seemed everyone else was. Episode design was good. Scripts were fully developed. Actors comfortable that...
Shatner will always be able to play Captain Kirk because part of his personality is deeply rooted in Captain Kirk. The question is: should he? No. He's difficult to deal with.
Solid scripts. 3D characters. Excellent plotting. Good direction and pacing. Most important: episodes to have social relevance and FEELING. The characters need to care about each other AS FRIENDS, not as co-workers.
I've been saying it for years: give it to the kid and see what he can do with it. Him or Adam Nimoy. Those two are the last chance. The were raised around the creators and they understand the franchise. But much like The Muppets, Brian Henson, while an terrific kid, didn't possess the talent his...
No JJverse. No prime. I want something different. I'm sick of everyone trying to remake Star Trek. It is what it is and its damn good when it's real. I want real.
The new show should contain whatever characters are needed to support the ongoing plot. There should never be a "token" character on the series...it goes against what Star Trek stands for to begin with.
I disagree. The cast were household names and the series had a profound impact on the 1980s. I was in my early 20s then so I have a little more memory of this than most.
Hurley didn't fire Gates. She quit. How many times does a woman get sexually harassed on the set and put up with it? Patrick Stewart even had words with Hurley and it did no good. After that, she walked, and as a woman, hell, I don't blame her!
