    Picard: "Just Like Other Sci-Fi"

"Spock, I've found that evil usually triumphs unless good is very, very careful." - McCoy, the Omega Glory. That's hella cynical. Now, typically cynical stuff was directed at individuals and not institutions, because Star Trek is about being the man not fighting the man. The Federation and...

    Picard: "Just Like Other Sci-Fi"

I would suggest that it turned back to a more cynical one. The original source material got pretty cynical and I don't really see either Discovery or Picard being significantly more cynical than TOS could get. We aren't talking Space 1999. Blakes Seven, Babylon 5, BSG 2K, Firefly, Killjoys or...

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 1x05 - "Stardust City Rag"

It's a real meltdown over there. TNG purists are getting more and more upset that not only is their Trek not seen as the definitive Trek anymore, but that their era is getting the same kind of treatment their Trek laid on TOS.

Guy was a creep, no matter who played the role. I'm sure he had it coming.

    Picard: "Just Like Other Sci-Fi"

It's not going to be the next Game of Thrones, but it will help move the franchise forward along with DISCO and the other show. But it won't be as dominant as TNG and the Berman shows were, simple because there are too many space shows to compete with and on the way, and there are too many...

    Picard: "Just Like Other Sci-Fi"

Each new generation considers itself superior to the last and tends to look down its nose at the previous one once it gets the chance to make its own mark. What we've been seeing with the new generation of shows is very similar to how the Berman Era treated TOS. Characters were written to make...

Will CBS All Access Remain Viable in the Streaming Wars?

that was my educated guess based on what I've read. We'll only know what exactly is going to happen with both Peacock and whatever CBS comes up with when it happens.

Synthograms! (possibly some for Mongo if deemed appropriate).

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 1x05 - "Stardust City Rag"

I think it's clear that the real villains of this episode are Harry Kim and Captain Janeway. If Harry hadn't of illegally used time travel neither 7 or Icheb would have even been in Federation space to ending up suffering like they have. And if Janeway hadn't subsequently illegally used time...

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 1x05 - "Stardust City Rag"

I found it one of the stronger scenes of the episode. That's authentic emotion being played out by someone who is distraught. But I can understand why it would bother some people who find such experiences uncomfortable to watch.

If I was a Borg kid, this storyline would freak the hell out of me.

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 1x05 - "Stardust City Rag"

I'm convinced that the fall of the Federation will ultimately be traced to a batch of bad wine from the poor quality of grapes harvested by Chateaux Picard in 2399 while Jean Luc wasn't around to perform his usual quality control assessments.

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 1x05 - "Stardust City Rag"

Well, its kind of a rebuttal to Voyager actually, as if this was a Voyager episode it would have turned out to just be a Halloween story Neelix was telling a group of kids or some twaddle like that.

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 1x05 - "Stardust City Rag"

Could be. Then again, ten things happen every year in the Federation that could put it in ruins, only thwarted by heroic Star Fleet officers at the last minute every time. Over a thousand years, someone is bound to slip up.

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 1x05 - "Stardust City Rag"

The borg are seeking perfection in the meld of biological and non-biological not the elimination of the biological. The queen offered data flesh suggesting that it would make him more perfect not less.

I strongly suspect borg technology is involved. I don't think Maddox ever had what it took to do it just with what he had from Soong.
