    Mac Calhoun's speech pattern

My personal reference was always a Red October Alec Baldwin.

    Star Trek: Early Voyages

Yes but they weren't flatscreen televisions with animated graphics, which people back in 2001 thought were too advanced for the NX-01 and therefore wasn't in same timeline as Kirk's Enterprise.

    Star Trek: Early Voyages

I seem to recall complaints at the time over the use of flat-screen TVs on the bridge of the Enterprise as it was more advanced than what Kirk's Enterprise had.

    "Beyond" Novelization

When I first got into Trek novels I foolishly thought the only ones worth reading were the novelizations as they were the 'true' stories (I was young and naive). So the first books I read were All Good Things, First Contact and Caretaker. They were also my first experiences with those stories in...

What happened to Star Trek Magazine

Sad to see it go. I was a regular buyer of Star Trek Magazine for a few years, starting around 25 years ago.

Den of Geek - Best Star Trek Books Ever

Came across this article on Den of Geek: https://www.denofgeek.com/books/best-star-trek-books-ever-written/ Some interesting books on the list. I probably agree with most of them, although not sure I would have chosen Homecoming from Star trek Voyager.

Spoilers TNG: Pliable Truths by Dayton Ward - Review thread

Am afraid I gave this one an "average". The three storylines (Picard's / Crusher's / Secret Mining Colony) felt very light. i was expecting more from Ro who was returning to Bajor at a pivotal moment in its history. Madred's arrival didn't seem as significant as was being made out, with Picard...

Reading New Frontier from the beginning

One of my abiding memories of that era is that being in Ireland, we got the books one month or so after the US. So although it also would have been 23 months between releases for us, it did mean though I had to wait another month to join the conversation on the forums and avoid spoilers.

Reading New Frontier from the beginning

Should do a TrekLit bookclub where everyone rereads Double Helix series from beginning to end as it mainly only appears in New Frontier threads or "Worse Book" threads. Be interesting to cover the series on its own.

Where I re-read Star Trek: Vanguard

Might be worth noting Kevin Dilmore also wrote this book with Dayton Ward.

Reading Marathon: The Typhon Pact... and Beyond!

The Federation does have a history of forgetting wars. Have lost count the amount of times they refer to great periods of peace only to discover they were also at war with the Cardassians, Tzenkethi, etc at the same time.

Where I Re-Read NEW FRONTIER by Peter David

I think one issue after Stone & Anvil is that "New Frontier" just got too big. It started off as one crew on one ship having localised adventures in one sector. It then became many crews on many ships dealing with constant galaxy-ending events. There was a lot of sprawl. Which is also why I like...

Where I Re-Read NEW FRONTIER by Peter David

Always felt Stone and Anvil would serve as a good conclusion to the series. After the high-stakes of the previous two books which as you said were the "season finale", Stone and Anvil felt like a nice epilogue to the series that wrapped things up. The books that came after were, in my opinion, a...

CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar 2 - Electric Boogaloo-Fanboys gone WILD-too many hyphens

Reading the article on Axamonitor Facebook page, it is funny seeing Paramount complaining that after 7 years there is still no Axanar film.

    Picard or Destiny?

At this point nearly need dedicated wikis with one for Star Trek Online, one for novels, and one for comics. Would be easier to highlight contradictions within novels for example, without having to worry about comic and game contradictions too. But dedicated wikis would need enough contributors...

    2023 book releases

When I started reading Trek books just over 20 years ago, I did appreciate that the MMPB used to fit perfectly in the small pocket on side of my bag. Was a pocket I never had use for before, and suddenly it was perfect for something.
