Haven't been in this thread for years, thought I'd pop in a few hours before catching the next episode, quickly scrolled down and - whoops - inadvertantly read the first few words of your post.
That'll learn me. In fairness, I was expecting as much.
Gripping show from start to finish...
So basically, more Joel.
People were livid at Joel getting offed so early in the game. I played both games back-to-back for the first time a couple of years ago; I'd stumbled across the "Joel dies" spoiler before starting, but even then, I was taken aback at how early he was taken out...
Perfect (given the story left to tell).
How? Because there is still two seasons' worth of story to tell. You've made your mind up it seems and aren't willing to embrace the story the creators intended to tell, like ohhhh so many others over the years.
Tell you what - just erase S2 from your...
I didn't see any of the build-up to the trailer, so it appearing on my YT feed was a pleasant surprise.
Consider me hyped. I love how boldly, unabashedly comic-booky it seems, but also that James Gunn knows how to deliver on the feels.
Superman was my first geek-love (Lois and Clark) before I...
Well spotted! All that was missing was Patrick Duffy and his burly chest exiting the shower.
Bad shit happens to regular folk all the time; this show just doesn't shy any from it happening to Our Heroes™, which continues to infuriate.
I think it's revealing how we consume media. For me, I've...
John de Lancie. He was instrumental in making me fall for Trek in my early days.
James Sloyan (Mainly for TNG's The Defector, but also played an older Alexander in S7's Firstborn) and Jetrel in early VOY's, well, Jetrel. Fantastic character actor.
Jeffery Combs. Duh.
Marc Alimo. Also duh...
No disagreement from me, hence why I assumed what I did.
Bit disappointed (but not surprised) to see some nastiness coming from certain corners after this episode. A lot of people became so fixated on the "injustice" of Joel's death - as if it were a giant troll by Druckmann - that they stopped...
Another cracker.
Issac's backstory with FEDRA was a cool addition. Jeffrey Wright was fantastic (I did not know that re: copper pans).
Considering the pace of the show, I can't see this being wrapped up next season.
Also,
There's a small YT reaction channel I follow called Court Reacts. She's currently about halfway through TNG and just started B5. This popped up a couple of days ago:
Legend. What a generous guy.
I expressed misgivings after the first episode, but I'm really enjoying it at this juncture. My brain has adapted to Show Ellie is not Game Ellie, and I'm enjoying the extra meat added to the story.
Enjoyed the slower pace after last week's action-packed blow out.
And Dina. Damn. I think Mazin...
The cycle of violence and the futility of the pursuit of vengeance is a big part of the story. Abby and her crew depart, and she looks miserable. She'd built this moment up in her mind for years, but when she finally exacted justice, she looked empty.
The trailers have revealed the gee-tar session and the two major flashbacks.
Also, I didn't click at the time, but Ashley Johnson (OG Ellie) was the singer in the outro.
I trust Mazin. This season is a much bigger challenge to adapt.
It's funny seeing a Jayson-style reaction getting pissy at a Joel-less future when the story is only just kicking off.
The Bill switcharoo last season was fantastic. In-game, Bill was a cautionary tale for Joel, whereas in-show, they flipped it on its head.
It's funny you're comparing your game experience to the live-action version, whereas I can't help but do the opposite.
The motion capture for TLOU2 is...
Now that that's out of the way ...
Strong episode. Kudos to Kaitlyn and Bella. Kaityn clearly studied Abby's cutscenes from the game, as she absolutely nailed Laura Bailey's delivery (Abby's voice actress in TLOU2) in the "You stupid, old man. You don't get to rush this" scene - it was...
