To avoid making the Enterprise-J just another exploration show, have it be on a mission to the Andromeda galaxy. TOS already set that up. And they should use OTOY's Enterprise-J with the transparent hull.

Yeah, they didn't make good use of Section 31 and what it's supposed to represent. Regular Starfleet could have indeed handled this mission, as mentioned earlier.

A lot of promise was evident but it was poorly written. And the action was too frenetic. Plus we almost got some First Contact music, but not quite.
