Spoilers VOY: Atonement by Kirsten Beyer Review Thread

No, they just disappeared through a subspace tunnel to Parts Unknown.

Spoilers VOY: Atonement by Kirsten Beyer Review Thread

Just finished. Good book. I'd like a to see the dangling Caeliar thread (where are they?) tied up. I can't help but think Axum is a lead-in to that.

Spoilers VOY: Acts of Contrition by Kirsten Beyer Review Thread

The whole Catom Plague plot was well done, but frustratingly incomplete. It seems like there are threads there left for the next book. And I agree that Picardo should have Kirsten as a writer for his scences, her writing of him is beyond compare.

    Destiny Question

Friends, I have awful news. Today I made the shocking discovery that the idea of the Caeliar Gestalt, of a telepathic democracy was already done in Peter F. Hamilton's The Night's Dawn trilogy. Dear me, Mr. Mack's level of awesome just took a plunge. (I must lie down now to recover).

VOY "Act of contrition" bets. HEAVY SPOILERS FROM OTHER BOOKS!

I filed a pre-order with Amazon and my credit card will be billed when the book ships. Geez, what more to you want? :cardie: I'm not really a fan of the Confederacy of the First Whatever (they bore me). I want more Caeliar! I want my Catom Plague plot! I want Axum to realize how much of a...

VOY "Act of contrition" bets. HEAVY SPOILERS FROM OTHER BOOKS!

Lessee, Axum has an epiphany and realizes that missing out on world-hopping with the Caeliar because he couldn't get over a chick was a bad move, and finds the Gestalt. Or Seven makes Axum realize how pathetic he really is and finds the Gestalt for him, because she doesn't date losers and just...

    Destiny Question

The ones who were flung back to the Beginning of Time (in the Kintana city-ship) are presumably the same ones who vacuumed all the space dust from several galaxies and built shells around the shells around the stars of one galaxy. The Enterprise-E visited that galaxy while exploring the...

    Destiny Question

I'd say the Caeliar aren't known for playing well with others. By their own admission, they didn't get along with other species and went into hiding to avoid contact. And then you have Kintana, the third Caeliar city ship that went back to the Dawn of Time. Assuming they survived for a...

    Who's suffered the most?

The crew of the Columbia in "Destiny" put in some hard time. That was a Voyage of the Damned.

Any timeline ideas for a blurb on Acts of Contrition?

We really need to have an Challenge of Awesome Writing between Kirsten and David Mack. :rommie:

VOY: Protectors by Kirsten Beyer Review Thread (Spoilers!)

What is the expected timeline for a blurb on Acts of Contrition?

VOY: Protectors by Kirsten Beyer Review Thread (Spoilers!)

The book might suffer from starter-itis, it opens more than a few plot threads for future novels but doesn't finish them. The Caeliar, Seven's arc, the Paris family story, unfinished story lines can make a novel look weak and any book that has to carry that load can suffer.

VOY: Protectors by Kirsten Beyer Review Thread (Spoilers!)

I'm waiting for the Caeliar threads to be cleared up. Axum could go either way, either he's being tortured, or he's mentally unstable and wants to die; living is a torture for him and he doesn't want to be on life support. Knowing Kirsten, I'd favour the second. And I'll wager the...

VOY: Protectors by Kirsten Beyer Review Thread (Spoilers!)

Wow. I didn't know Andorian physiology was so exotically shaped. :vulcan: And don't you mean to "to glow where nobody has shone before"? :rommie:

Trills in Starfleet - a question for the hivemind...

AIUI The Trill joined the Federation fairly early, in the 23rd Century. They've since become mainstays. Articles of the Federation stated that a Trill, Madza Bral, was the first non-Founding Five Federation President, c. 2230's, so I would take it the Trill would be well integrated into...

Amazon sale on Star Trek Books

amazon.ca isn't having a sale, but did promote my preorders to Release Date Delivery for no additional charge. I've got the rest of The Fall and Voyager: Protectors on order. Interestingly with Express delivery which is Expresspost from Toronto I get it overnight after it ships anyway.

Spoilers TF: The Crimson Shadow by Una McCormack Review Thread

Re: TF: The Crimson Shadow by Una McCormack - Review Thread (Spoilers! Yes, in a "hit you over the head" sort of way. Much as I prefer plot over character, McCormack makes me like character. Sorry, but DRGIII is way too character-oriented an author for me.

Star Trek Voyager: Protectors by Kirsten Beyer, Jan 2014!

I had the feeling that Protectors was going to be a "set-up" kind of book. :) Or, as I like to think of it, Kirsten has a Bachelor of Fine Arts and knows how to use it. Between this and some other fantastic news I got today in my alter ego as a political activist, this really has been...

    Destiny and Enterprise (Spoilers!)

The US Navy was running escorts in the Atlantic against the U-boats in the Summer of 1941 too. By Fall 1941 it was on except for the paperwork from the POV of the naval commanders.
