You're like the human NOMAD, sterilizing every imperfection.
I may be biased, but I prefer the 2022 TDE to any other version. It's all I need to watch anymore.
The movie was planned to be shown at 2.35:1 in 35mm and 2.2:1 for 70mm. Knowing that, they would not have spent the money to create effects outside that area and would protect to about 2:1. That would explain why the "DIrector's Cut" DVD had a 2:1 aspect ratio and can be confirmed with this...
The theatrical was 4K and Dolby Vision on September 6 but for some reason it's reverted back to HD. I think at some point it'll go back to Dolby Vision.
When TMP was submitted for a new rating for "The Director's Edition" it superseded the previous rating. It looks like Paramount has not re-submitted the theatrical cut, so it and the SLV (which may never have been submitted) are now unrated.
For those going to movie theaters right now, the Cinemark will be showing the following Star Trek films in September.
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (this is a Fathom event)
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
Star Trek: First Contact
Star Trek (2009)
They used to sell the Trek VI "Director's Edition" separately. I purchased it and the last time I checked it hasn't upgraded to the new transfer. They still sell "The Director's Edition" of TWOK and that upgraded to 4k/HDR years ago.
