Why didn't they just make Picard British when they cast Patrick?

I've known a fair number of French natives who speak with English accents as they went to schools in France which follow the the British education model. IIRC they were also only allowed to communicate in English whilst on school grounds or maybe it was just in lessons.

Spoilers Star Trek: Lower Decks 2x07 - "Where Pleasant Fountains Lie"

I'm willing to bet I'd struggle to get it up too, if my mum had just died in an explosion like that,

    Possible dvd/blue ray discontinued?

Found all of them online in 7 minutes. Wouldn't have to pay to watch them and could easily download and save them to a hard drive.

    Possible dvd/blue ray discontinued?

That's great for you, but that has zero relevance to me and many others as Netflix DVD isn't available outside the US. However I can stream almost any movie or show any time I want without paying anything if I was that way inclined. Enjoy your Netflix DVD.

    Possible dvd/blue ray discontinued?

You can buy/rent individual movies and shows on a one off basis on various streaming apps without having a subscription. Youtube, vudu, iTunes and Rakuten are just 4 examples, but there are at least a dozen. Amazon also do this separate from their subscription service

    Possible dvd/blue ray discontinued?

I like owning the odd occasional bluray, but I'm fine if they want to move to streaming. Just provide a good product, with excellent picture quality and at a fair price. If I don't like what's offered and there are no alternatives, I'll just find another (very pocket friendly way) to watch what...

Let’s be silly: predict the number of seasons Discovery runs; come back later to see if you're right

At some point, maybe after 7 seasons, I'd quite like a sentient Discovery/sphere data to end up abandoned somewhere and then find itself a new crew. Or maybe it ends up finding its way to Prime Lorca.

    4K Blu-Ray Vs. 4K Streaming

The only thing that might explain the differences in opinions is if tomswift2002 watched streaming contact from 2 feet away on an 80" screen.

    4K Blu-Ray Vs. 4K Streaming

The picture quality of season 1 of Discovery and season 3 are not equal. Season 1 had added "grain". It looked pretty bad on Netflix and it wasn't much better on blu-ray. However S2 and S3 of Discovery didn't have this grain, and they are easily the best examples of 1080 HDR/DV on Netflix. It...

The quality of DS9 DVD:s again and how angry I am now!

DS9 does benefit from a tweak to picture settings. I stream it through Netflix on a 4K amazon firestick and found that pushing settings to "Always HDR" on the firestick, gives me a much better picture (Most other shows look worse under this setting). The "fifty shades of mud" mentioned by Asbo...

Spoilers Star Trek: Discovery 3x13 - "That Hope Is You, Part 2"

Aren't there a very limited number of his species with that level of empath ability. Like just him and his brother?

IIRC they needed to "blow their way out". I assume they couldn't attempt a jump whilst they were under fire.

Spoilers Star Trek: Discovery 3x13 - "That Hope Is You, Part 2"

There was more than a bit of a star wars vibe with the regulators (storm troopers) the sphere data/maintenance bots (r2-d2) and Book (hans solo)

Spoilers Star Trek: Discovery 3x09 - "Terra Firma, Part 1"

It was very enjoyable for what it was, but we're into episode 9 of a season of Trek set in the distant future and they've still done very little to take advantage of the setting.I think maybe I set my expectations too high for this season and like Voyager need to accept it for what it is. Also...

Spoilers Star Trek: Discovery 3x07 - "Unification III"

I wasn't replying to you in my post, so no need to apologise or speak "code". I'd suggest you jog on (more code for you) if you don't understand or know how to polity ask for an explanation.

Spoilers Star Trek: Discovery 3x07 - "Unification III"

She directly undermined Sarus captaincy. Book and Nahn have already received the treatment. Culber also had a scene on the seed ship when he told Burnham she'd need to go save the day. Would that talk not have been better coming from a Doctor?

Spoilers Star Trek: Discovery 3x07 - "Unification III"

I posted (reposted) earlier in thread that I liked how they went about the various story arcs in season 2. I've also said I've not really liked the way season 3 is unfolding. I don't mind having central figure/s in the show, but this season almost everyone bar Burnham feels like a damsel in...
