It's an interesting philosophical question, and I think Jean Luc Picard would be very invested in thinking about it. But while it might be a subplot in S2, I'm doubting it. There just isn't time to explore a theme like that in ten episodes (more or less, I'm not sure what S2 is getting for an...
I think Q is the perfect foil for Picard--perhaps not by design, but even so. But perhaps AGT was really the best sendoff the character could have had. I personally doubt he'll show up on PIC.
My fault. I understand what you're saying. I just think that anything can make sense from a story point of view if the writers wish it to, Q included. PIC Season 2 is an open book; literally anything can happen. The sky's the limit.
We're forgetting the fourth method of Trek resurrection, "write a book where a beloved character doesn't actually die, but becomes a spy or something instead for no apparent reason."
It's just a sentimental feeling on my part. If cameos don't fit into the story, so be it. But I would hate if they didn't purposefully avoided TNG crew just out of obtuseness. There's nothing wrong with wanting TNG stars to cameo on PIC. I hope they do.
I thought Spock's resurrection was the most sci-fi method (Genesis was cool, and I want it). And Picard's was the most timely. Nu-Kirk's was just silly.
The only reason I think TNG actors 'deserve' a guest shot on PIC is because they've been putting in the convention appearances for years. And since the last movie was such a bust (and because it came out almost 20 years ago), I think these people are owed a nice victory lap. Is there a need for...
Well, right. It would have to be organic. Even a tiny cameo at the end would be nice. Maybe every character doesn't need a sendoff, but Q's a bookend. He's as integral to Picard's character as Data was. And honestly, if Spiner deserved what he got, de Lancie deserves it too.
But I admit, it'd...
