Spoilers Star Trek: Lower Decks 5x10 - "The New Next Generation"

I'm good with it. I was a bit underwhelmed by the last couple eps, but this one worked for me. It's OK if some subtext stays subtext, right?

    Spoilers The Acolyte

Although Indara's reason for not owning up to what happened was actually pretty good. Getting a good outcome for the one person they actually rescued at the cost of the truth isn't a crazy decision. It might have even worked.

    Spoilers The Acolyte

I don't think Vernestra is supposed to have fallen at this time. Haven't got a clue who she's talking to, though.

    Spoilers The Acolyte

OK. I'm just not sure that she was ever really LS. She failed out for a reason. Maybe Sol saved the wrong one.

    Spoilers The Acolyte

Was she actually the good sister, though?

    Spoilers The Acolyte

My take was that he thought that Sol was being reckless and would get them both killed.

    Spoilers The Acolyte

Was cortosis already canon? I thought not.

    Spoilers The Acolyte

Yeah, that's definitely angling towards another season. Wonder how much of the EU they want to recanonize. I figure that's got to be Plagueis too.

    Looks like it's go time.

    Spoilers The Acolyte

Given the budget this thing had, I think we're going to have to go with "fanatically committed to ambiguity" over "not enough money for an explosion." And if I was making a show where a fire was really devastating, I probably would have set that fire in a structure that wasn't made of stone.

    Spoilers The Acolyte

I've seen a couple of review takes saying that the big reveal is that Sol was the villain all along. It's a little reductionist, but I kinda get it.

    Spoilers The Acolyte

Yeah, it's pretty clear that she didn't intend to harm anyone. Speaking of harm, was the rest of the coven actually killed in that Force confrontation, or were they just knocked out only to die from the fire? I'm still not sure how we're supposed to read that.

    Spoilers The Acolyte

That's my feeling too. Whether there actually are any more episodes coming...

    Spoilers The Acolyte

Maybe they won't try. What was that Mass Effect line? "Lots of speculations for everyone"

    Spoilers The Acolyte

WRT Sol, I thought he was just too keen to see the Force as wanting something from him. Sometimes it's just you, not Destiny. Torbin? Yeah, didn't work for me either.

    Spoilers The Acolyte

I'd bet the former, but not with a high degree of confidence.

    Spoilers The Acolyte

The irony is that traditional Jedi methods would have worked just fine here. There's nothing to suggest that the coven couldn't have just gone on its way.

    Spoilers The Acolyte

OK. But this is a YMMV thing. I thought where he ended up was appropriate.

He was right about the Jedi.

    Spoilers The Acolyte

In fairness, Indara seems to have been right in this particular case. It's everybody else going off-book which causes things to go off the rails. I think the general point is reasonable, though. I've always been with TLJ Luke.
