    Star Trek passings

Very sad news about Kirstie. She brought a level of energy to the screen that was unmistakable, especially at the height of her career. With a huge role in arguably the franchise's most iconic film, Kirstie will forever be a part of Star Trek. Thoughts and prayers to her family and loved ones.

What do people think of SNW (spoiler free please)

Watching for the first time now. Just finished Ep. 4. I haven't posted on this site in awhile but am logging on specifically to say how pleased I am so far with SNW. Wow! I'm loving it.... Someone -- after all these years -- is finally getting the *soul* of Star Trek. Someone gets the real...

Spoilers Let’s talk about the destruction of Trek utopia…

It depends, given the structure and goal of the story. PIC is a series that pushes the in-universe narrative envelope forward, and when it becomes more dark it's much easier to process and accept. One can easily accept the gradual deterioration of norms, customs, and common bonds of affection...

    Season 1 as a Whole

Overall I'm very pleased. Also happily surprised the season didn't end on a cliff-hanger. It feels self-contained and I like that.

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

I'm not thrilled with every creative decision, but I completely agree with the "it's a lot better stopping point than Nemesis" crowd. PIC certainly isn't TNG and doesn't try to be, and that's a good thing. It can get convoluted, but it has a lot of heart. Ultimately, I'm really surprised PIC...

Variety: "Star Trek: Picard Is 'Divisive' "

As the years rolled by following the NEM disaster, I never thought we'd get the TNG cast back together for a live-action film or TV project. Dead and done. I'm not thrilled with every creative decision and its not without its flaw but overall, I'm very happy with PIC. It's already a better...

Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

I guess I'm not as excited about this Pike concept as most here. I'll definitely be there watching and hoping that it's a huge success, but I feel like the pre-TOS timeframe has really been explored pretty thoroughly with ENT and DSC. And it's the toughest era to maintain even the slightest bit...

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 1x08 - "Broken Pieces"

Loved this episode, and generally very happy with Season 1 up to this point. There's a few things I wish were a little different but this is so much more than anything I ever thought we'd ever get with our old friends. Love it... Also, I'm hoping the ancient civilization is the Iconians.

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

We're only 2 episodes in but I'm very happy with the general concept and direction of Picard.

STAR TREK 4 BACK ON! Noah Hawley to write and direct

I'm thrilled by this news. I'm also happy it seems we're going in a different direction than the time-travel with Dad storyline with Hemsworth. I'm hoping for something new and different and focused on Trek. A TV guy leading the way might deliver a better story while helping keep costs down...

    Best TNG BluRay Collection?

Yeah ok. You know, you can't have too many threads or they get condensed, moved, or closed. You can't resurrect a thread that's too old on the same topic or they get condensed, moved or closed. It's not like this is the most heavily visited site on the Internet. There's not a ton to clean...

    Best TNG BluRay Collection?

Thanks @BillJ. Some of the consumer reviews on Amazon (which of course can be a little sketchy...) for both products discussed problems with the packaging. I'm hoping to find out which is the lesser of two evils. It seems like the stand-alone season b/r's are much better packaged for fans...

    Best TNG BluRay Collection?

I'm looking to purchase TNG on b/r now, and there seems to be two choices on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BP06ENA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Ge...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=HHVGTVW1VTKQ6JDNVATJ Does anyone know the differences...

    New Picard SDCC Trailer

This trailer is just amazing. I can't believe we're about to be getting more JLP. And Data! Seven! Riker and Troi! I almost can't believe it. We're finally moving forward in the timeline -- a true sequel to the TNG/DS9/VOY era. It's what I've wanted for almost 20 years. Finally!! I'm more...

Tarantino Trek - what could we expect?

How can one destroy something that's already dead? Paramount would be negligent to say, "Sorry, even though you're a legendary filmmaker and could spark interest in Trek and completely resuscitate our franchise with these popular new actors, we don't want you. We're not interested in...

    Star Trek 4 Reportedly Shelved

It's a real shame this iteration of Trek is ending in this fashion. The Kelvinverse was just hitting its creative stride. Despite its problems, the Kelvinverse breathed new life into the franchise. After The Rise of Skywalker is finished, JJ should return to the Trek franchise he built and give...

Star Trek 4 Hits A Snag

The problem is that the once-every-four-years Trek is much better than the weekly Trek, at this point.
