STC Ep. 7: "Embrace The Winds" speculation and discussion....

I know I'm late, but I'd like to throw out my reasons for disappointment in this episode: there was no there there. All the juicy stuff about Garrett's past and possible unfitness for the post was brought up and then ignored. The Hood was taken off the board so once again there was no need for...

    Star Trek Discovery

Not enough info to judge. I don't love the ship, but I don't hate it the way I do the movie Enterprise, so that's a plus.

    "Polaris"

It's hard to put my finger on it, but that's how I feel about it, too. I enjoyed the trailer but there's a sense in it as if we should know these characters already even though we don't. It feels more like "Next week on Polaris:" than a clear introduction.

Star Trek - Horizon (Enterprise Feature-Length Fan Film)

I just watched it, really impressed. I thought the green screen was very well done, and I liked the story a lot. Amazing proof that you don't need a ton of money and resources to do something well.

    Starship FARRAGUT: The CROSSING

They basically did a Holiest Thing. They showed it at the con and released a temporary link to backers, but weren't fully satisfied so they pulled it back for some tweaks before general release.

    STC's Lolani

In the US, copyright exists on creation; however you have to file a copyright registration to be eligible for statutory damages. If you read the author's blog, it appears that he didn't do so until after the similarities between his novel and Lolani came to his attention. If that's the case...

    STC's Lolani

I'm of the opinion we may never know; but for right now I refuse to rule out either possibility.

    STC's Lolani

Whether anything happens as a result of it or not, what matters from an ethical perspective is whether it's a coincidence/accident or a deliberate choice.

    "The Holiest Thing" Released

I thought Exeter came closest of any of the fan films.

I tried to, that scene seemed to last forever.

    "The Holiest Thing" Released

I've been reading the various reactions, and comparing them to my own, and I think I've finally come to a realization. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode, as I have most NV/PII episodes, despite recognizing a number of flaws. In fact, I enjoyed it more than STC's most recent outing, "Divided We...

    "The Holiest Thing" Released

As I said in the other thread, I enjoyed it a lot. There were some sound and color issues, but the story was good. (I worry less about overall continuity than internal consistency.)

Star Trek: Phase II's "The Holiest Thing" - Delayed

I just finished watching it, and kudos to the whole team for finally getting it out. I thoroughly enjoyed the story; it was a good episode and did a great job of filling in some of the blanks that we already knew about. Production-wise, it had some issues, primarily to do with sound and color...

Star Trek: Phase II's "The Holiest Thing" - Delayed

I just started watching it, then got interrupted, so far so good though.

    CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

It works for me, though I put Quinto as second. (Simon Pegg comes a distant last in my book.)

    CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

I figured it could easily be explained as Alec the Trek Fan wanted to be the bestest Trek Fan evar! and so he wanted to make the bestest Trek Film evar! - then reality hit him over the head with a clue-by-four, which he promptly ignored.

    CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

The big thing with Urban for me is that he manages to really capture the feel of the character more than anyone else in the cast.

    CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

Peters reminds me of my stepson when he was about 16-17. He seemed to be completely unable to emotionally grasp the concept that the rules that applied to other people also applied to him.

    STC's Lolani

For me at least, the thing with the holodeck is that since I didn't see it on TOS, and did see it on TNG, I always associate it with the latter. I understand and agree with many of the arguments about its validity in STC, but that still doesn't change the association in my head.

    CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

The thing is, all the profit/non-profit stuff only matters if CBS needs or wants to explain why they are going after Axanar rather than anybody else (which AFAIK they don't have to do). Otherwise, it's completely open and shut and needs no more excuse beyond the fact Axanar used CBS IP.
