...prime minister. The people are on the brink of legislating social restructuring. The clergy is is negotiating with the Cardassians and the Dominion. To put the cherry on top, DS9 ended up telling four more stories about the Maquis--Defiant, For the Cause, For the Uniform, Blaze of...

"In the Pale Moonlight" - Did Garak ever reach out to his contacts on Cardassia?

...following season about reaching out to contacts on Cardassia, which implies that SOME of them were still alive afterwards, meaning that the Dominion didn't kill ALL of his contacts. So right there, we have proof of his lying about ALL of his sources being dead after speaking with him. Garak...

What if Voyager was a different class of ship?

Even at its strongest, the Dominion would have been steamrolled by The Borg.

What if Voyager was a different class of ship?

It was still never a big issue in Farscape either. And those Commerce Worlds they talked about were often all off screen rather than shown every time. They certainly were portrayed that way at first, with soldiers tougher than Klingsons and super transporters and ships that could see cloaked...

    24th Century Scout Ships

Yeah, we should keep in mind that Starfleet lost an enormous number of ships in the war. Eight years later? It seem plausible that ships that are still somewhat useful would be retained, as a stop gap.

What if Voyager was a different class of ship?

I said FARSCAPE did starvation 'at least once', which is still once more than VOY ever did with twice as many episodes. The Borg and the Dominion are wildly different. In the first place, the Dominion wasn't an insurmountable villain that you had no chance against. They were slightly more...

What if Voyager was a different class of ship?

...instead of wasting their time having to constantly explain how VOY did maintenance. That's like saying DS9 should've barely used the Dominion after "The Jem'Hadar". I do. I have. You want to build up an immediate connection to the area of space VOY ends up in? Make more of the cast...

Non-star Trek books for Star Trek fans

...It's not constant battles, which is good. Weber can really get into the politics of his various interestellar organizations though, which can be a bit much at times so I skip over those parts. The world-building is great though If you hated the Dominion War arc, skip. Otherwise, give it a try.

The Star Trek Encyclopedia - Review

...corrected, and several instances where new information could have been added but the authors chose not to for whatever reason (for example, they did not bother to give a class name for the USS Centaur, probably because of their bias that the Dominion War kitbashes were not true starship classes.)

    24th Century Scout Ships

Yes, but I really doubt there would have been that many of them still in operation at that time. They literally made up 1/4 of the entire Starfleet.

    24th Century Scout Ships

Eight or so years after the Dominion War? I could see the Centaur type still being used. It would be nearing the end of its life span along with other starships based on the Excelsior platform, as that would be almost a hundred years old by that point in Prodigy. If the similarly aged...

The curse(?) of small universe syndrome

You are welcome to interpret things however you like, and I will as well. I’m just not being obtuse about it. As I said to the poster above, you are welcome to interpret things differently than I do. Thanks for not being obtuse about it.

The curse(?) of small universe syndrome

...they generally come off as an undifferentiated horde, but you can say the same about any enemy army in fiction, e.g. the Jem'Hadar in the Dominion War or the Swarm in Star Trek Beyond, or for that matter the Stormtroopers in Star Wars or the Germans or Japanese in a WWII movie or the Native...

    24th Century Scout Ships

...Then, a whole new scaled-up class was later created and named after the Centaur, which I suspect operated with distinction during the Dominion War, and maybe was even lost in action. I absolutely love the fact that this class got some love during PRO's run. It's my favorite of the DS9...

    24th Century Scout Ships

Yes. There was the scaled-down physical model Adam Buckner built for the Dominion war in DS9, and the Eaglemoss CGI model made for their magazine, which was only loosely based on the physical model but scaled to the actual Excelsior class starship, which was then used in Prodigy.
