    LEGO Enterprise rumors

I am so proud of this forum that this was posted yesterday and no one made THE joke.

    Star Trek: Generations at 30

...because it's charged with antiprotons and zapping it could destroy half the ship... then after a brief cutaway scene concluding the earlier pee joke and how Roddenb-- I mean Cochrane returns and doesn't want to be a commemorated statue, Worf aims and fires at the dish. I think it was about...

Could Star Trek V been saved?

...had the biggest messages to make, but before I digress into that any further...) STV did improve, but turning the crew into doorknobs for cheap jokes is almost as crass as dumbing down the 'dults to make Wesley look smarter, which is the dumbest form of scripting... Ah, so Q or Trelane or...

Spoilers Starfleet Academy General Discussion Thread

I have absolutely seen folks who played minor side roles or guest spots on a bunch of series show up at conventions to sell autographs. They're never the headliners and I'm fairly certain some cons won't let them set up at all, but it is definitely a thing that happens. Or at least it did in the...

Spoilers Starfleet Academy General Discussion Thread

I never said Kurtzman was putting down fans. Or conventions. I was remarking on how his "joke" didn't really reflect the reality that he knows first-hand.

Well, no one said the people making those jokes were young.

Does Maurice Hurley deserve more credit for his Star Trek work?

...managed to handle a lot more space fights without inducing the standby drama of 'Warp core going to explode", and I vaguely recall some jokes in the 90s about the big D being so fragile... then again, TNG is loaded with conduit coupler comments as well that don't quite add up unless the...

Literally all those shows are ancient history.

90210 lends itself better to stupid jokes (NCC-90210, Stardate9021.0, that sort of thing) than titles of other teen angst shows like Party of Five, Dawson's Creek or The OC would.

NFL 2025: A new era dawns?

Was gonna joke about how the Chiefs saw what the Bears were doing and wanted in, but this has been going on for a while. The state of Kansas is trying to woo the Chiefs and the legislators will meet Monday to float hundreds of millions in bonds and sales taxes so they can build a domed stadium...

Hey, I never noticed that before....

Indeed. Some seem to believe he was on the level of day players and was subject to the kind of dismissive treatment joked about upthread. Clearly, he was not on that level. It was not about affordability, which is a myth spread about Filmation for far too long (especially when many of their...

    ST: TNG Rewatch

11001001: Now that’s more like it! Another example of how much more comfortable this series is when it stops trying to be what it’s not and embraces its “Next Generation-ness.” We kick off with the first reuse of the amazing Star Trek III space dock. I totally get it, the series was giving us...

Star Trek The Wrath of Khan Book Club

I still take it as "Hey, surely this monotheistic Christian thing won't be such a big deal in the 23rd century." Not that VM was a practicing polytheist or anything. (There is not the same emphasis on any other monotheistic religions, is there?) Chapter 5 Peter is in trouble. This is told from...

    ST: TNG Rewatch

...in the government, get paid more, hold more important jobs and the like? Have sexism apparent and a few snide but easy to pass off as "a joke"? “A man’s place is in the home” sort of thing rather than this “do as you are bidden” borderline slavery track that these stories tend to take. A...

What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

I don't think Berman gave TOS much thought, so "hate" probably isn't accurate. Most likely he was just following Gene's edict of keeping TOS at a distance, Though given the number of TOS references in the Berman era, it was ignored when needed.

What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

He wouldn't have had to fight that hard since they were literally showing the Yellow Peril Klingons on screen.

What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

To do that RIck Berman would have to first acknowledge the smooth headed Klingons on TOS and I think he hated TOS and their is no way he would show that on TNG. I bet you Behr had to fight just to get in the joke 'We don't talk about it to outsiders" on DS9 in the Tribble 25th Anniversary episode.

The old Trek series is leaving Netflix.

They have all the Taylor Sheridan shows, The Good Fight, Evil, Yellowjackets, Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness etc., which are all successful and/or critically acclaimed and I'm sure several of them do better than Star Trek which really isn't that big anymore outside the fandom bubble.

The old Trek series is leaving Netflix.

...the lone exception.) Star Trek is Paramount+'s bread and butter. It is literally a make or break property for them. Without Trek, I'm pretty sure the service would fold. (Even the announcement video for the new Spaceballs movie jokes about it being an entire streaming service devoted to Star...
