The Last Jedi - Actually Widely Hated?

So we agree then that many of the characters in TLJ, especially Holdo, are poorly written. ;)

The Last Jedi - Actually Widely Hated?

Regard Poe, I agree, he should have clearly understood the strategic ramifications of attacking the dreadnought. Either he didn't, which makes him incompetent, or didn't care which is even worse and yeah, some time in the brig would have been justified regardless of the reasons. As far as Poe...

The Last Jedi - Actually Widely Hated?

Our heroes as well as the audience are often misled. Um, sorry, but one of the traits of a good leader is the ability to effectively communicate her plans to her subordinates. This builds trust throughout the chain of command. You can be the galaxy's foremost strategist, but if you can't...

The Last Jedi - Actually Widely Hated?

Hux could have been an interesting villain and the tension between he and Kylo could make an interesting subplot in the 3rd movie, now that Snoke is out of the picture. That being said, I suspect we'll just see more of the raving idiot we'd seen in TFA and TLJ. The worst character for me was...

News The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Updates

Yeah, Sam is definitely going to need a boost if he's going to be the next Cap. I don't see how he (Sam) can throw a 10+ pound disc very far nor with any precision without some version of the super soldier serum. That being said, even with a weaker serum, between the shield, Falcon suit, and...

    Nintendo NX / Switch Discussion

I’m wondering how well this will sell considering there’s no video output. It’s only $100 less than the regular Switch but it’s not really a console system and it’s about $100 more than the 2/3DS but larger, heavier and lacking the DS’s game library.

Is Anyone Honestly Impressed By Troi's Overrated Ability?

Maybe in-universe, Troi felt that her rank may intimidate junior officers and crew, so she asked Picard if she could wear “civies” instead of her uniform. That being said, I too liked her better in uniform than the other non-Starfleet outfits.

Is Anyone Honestly Impressed By Troi's Overrated Ability?

Many of the characteristics that made Troi an integral part of the crew seemed to be given to Guinan in S2. From that point on, Guinan served as Picard’s confidant or the rest of the crew’s pseudo adviser making Troi’s position even less relevant. My recollection of most of the Troi-centric...

Is Anyone Honestly Impressed By Troi's Overrated Ability?

The obvious answer is TPTB needed the saucer to crash. As far as the in-universe answer; Maybe large parts of the stardrive section was inaccessible due to damage or radiation from the warp core and the only safe way was “up” to the saucer section.

Is Anyone Honestly Impressed By Troi's Overrated Ability?

She probably would have seemed useful (or less useless) if we’d seen her doing psychology related tasks such as helping the crew deal with the aftermath of the Borg in Q Who or BoBW. We never saw this though as TNG portrayed humans unrealistically for the most part, so we rarely saw our heroes...

    Proxima Centauri in 25 years

Labor law attorneys are standing by to represent the poor astronauts who’s wages were not commensurate with their counterparts back on Earth.

    Nintendo NX / Switch Discussion

My only complaint with the Switch so far is the lack of old titles online. The Wii virtual console had a ton of old games from the NES, SNES, N64, NeoGeo, etc... The Switch has only 20 or so, mostly from the NES.

    Electrical question. Monitor Power supply.

I'm not sure it would even work... The Samsung PS is outputting 14VDC, 1.7A and I suspect the Samsung panel splits that off into 12V, 5V, 3.3V, etc... for the various internal components. Conversely the LG PS is outputting 19VDC, 1.4A and again the panel regulating the potential down to 12V...

Mars (the planet) is a Trekker/Trekkie

Apparently Star Trek is appreciated by at least one of the heavenly bodies in our solar system. Recently, Mars has proudly declared itself to be a fan of the franchise as the Starfleet logo was spotted on its surface by the MRO. The logo isn't perfect, but it's not too bad for a few million...

    Terminator VI

That would be my guess as well, though as @Guy Gardener stated, it wasn’t one Skynet sending Terminators back, it was numerous Skynets. I suppose that each incursion into the past altered the future in slight or profound ways. I’m not sure if future events were altered already in T2, but from...

    Terminator VI

Thanks for sharing that. I would have loved to see that sequence as part of the movie, but I understand why it was dropped. I remember reading about how T2 was the most expensive movie ever made (at that time). It would be cool if some enterprising young producer/director/artist recreated...

    Terminator VI

Not really. With T1, it was a last ditch effort by Skynet, right before the humans won. Supposedly Kyle was the only one to go back before JC destroyed the time machine. T2 obviously changes those events slightly. T3, T5 and even T:TSCC completely obliterates the timeline setup in T1 with...

A Lawyer Looks at The Measure of a Man

Regarding the Navy, I’ve never been to a court martial, but I suspect one would wear the dress uniform. The working uniform might be okay for Captain’s mast, a non judicial punishment proceeding, but I’m thinking one would want to make the best impression one could to the CO, so you’d probably...

    Terminator VI

Though it was mostly a rehash of T2, T3 was at least enjoyable in my opinion. Salvation was a very poorly executed step/stumble in the right direction... and yes, I agree, Genisys was cr#p. I think the Terminator franchise needed to reinvent itself similar to how the Fast and Furious franchise...

    Terminator VI

If we’re using Terminator Genisys as a template, specifically Jai Courtney’s Kyle Reese, then every member of the resistance enjoys a gym membership, a 3500+ calorie diet and never misses their daily macros.
