    My "FIGHT" with Captain Kirk!

How is being able to escape the ship in a hurry going to be a big advantage? Most of the time, the Enterprise is exploring someplace remote, and there would be no other ship around to pick up escape pods before their air ran out. Eventually they got shuttlecraft, but even with the shuttlecraft...

    Spock

...suffered from the mistake of the writers favouring a character too much and making them whatever they want, if they think it will bring in ratings, so Peck-Spock has been written the least vulcan of the rest and that put him below quinto and nimoy. Peck's Spock is basically a romantic...

Classic episodes now considered "lame" - ?!

Roddenberry would have loved to do a TV-MA rated Trek.

    Ignorance of Science

I think a lot of people were polarised by covid. There is so much disinformation out there, dressed as reasonable fact, and it hoodwinked a lot of people, at least in respect of vaccines at large. The effectiveness of vaccination is so clear, so obvious, and yet people will go to great lengths...

...local station to decide when to air it. If your local station was shuffling it around, it was probably because it was getting lousy ratings in its time slot. Syndicated shows are sold as complete seasons, and thus the stations that carry them are obligated to air the entire season, unlike...

    The General Knight Rider thread.

Well, you can learn all about it on my Patreon soon. It's actually my favorite incarnation of the franchise. A lot of people objected to it toning down the violence and making RoboCop family-friendly, but the producers understood that RoboCop had always been popular with children and there was...

Spoilers Marvel Cinematic Universe spoiler-heavy speculation thread

Liked both of the movies and the character. Not sure why she's "terrible."

Spoilers Marvel Cinematic Universe spoiler-heavy speculation thread

Ms. Marvel. Kamala Kahn is a great character from a good show that failed to get ratings. Captain Marvel is the opposite. A terrible character from two bad movies, where one of them made tons of money because it was the movie before the Avengers movie.

Faster than Warp Drive Discussion thread.

TransWarp from my memory has two types. The Borg TransWarp Conduit & Voth-Style TransWarp. The Borg's big advantage is that once the TransWarp Conduit is made, it can be artificially kept open and others can use it w/o having to spend extra energy while traversing it. That offers huge...

Faster than Warp Drive Discussion thread.

Was just surfing the Internet for something and thought about the "faster than Warp" drives that have popped up in Cannon. Ones that stand out are TransWarp ( Usually Borg) Quantum Slipstream, and Proto-Warp (Prodigy) Now we can talk about any and all, but this first one, had a thought...

    The General Knight Rider thread.

Ok, I didn't realize it didn't get the full thing. I guess now we'll never know whether they had plans for something bigger than that. How frustrating. I think the difference is that the movie was much more broad in its scope. I guess it's down to expectations? It's been long enough that I...

    The General Knight Rider thread.

No, it didn't. Minority Report had an initial 13-episode order, but it was cut to 10 after it had a weak start in the ratings. Personally I don't think it would really count as a full season unless it had gotten a back 9 pickup for a total 22. Hm. Given that the movie was about cops and...

That Starbase 11 wall chart - noe in slide form

The other issue is that in ships, a generation can be two ships, then a major change, and another two ships. Not downgrading one to another position, just changing enough stuff on the ship for it to be another class. Look at US Cruisers in the 1920s, 30s, and 40s, when the defining factors...

That Starbase 11 wall chart - noe in slide form

The 100 ship limit is a problem, though he also provided something of a solution. Unless your shipbuilding rate is just bonkers, you'll likely end up upgrading ships before the 100 ship limit is reached. Per the image of his you posted earlier, a modification gets a letter. In theory, then...

Poll Would you purchase a legit remaster of DS9?

So, I watch DS9 on DVD. Then stream what I like with newer Trek. Win-win. The money isn't showing for them. If it was worthwhile they would have done it.

But. . . But. . . Weren't we told that this movie was a flop and nowhere near a great as 'Man of Steel' by certain members on this forum?

Poll Would you purchase a legit remaster of DS9?

I'm also saying to put it on their radar. If they did start a remaster project for DS9 around 2022 or 2023, but paused for the merger, then I think it's important to keep it on their radar.

Poll Would you purchase a legit remaster of DS9?

...on their radar. It's not. As you yourself just stated, they are far more interested in spending money on a shitty vanity project for an overrated actress and thinking it's the greatest thing in the world instead of remastering a 30 year old show that was never a ratings powerhouse to begin with.

    The Global Football Thread

It's certainly a great truism in football that no club is too big to go down. Newcastle, Leeds and Aston Villa have all felt the sting of relegation in relatively recent times, and both Utd and Spurs were only spared their blushes by the horrendous quality of the bottom three last season. The...
