What is your opinion of season 3 as a whole?

Those looking for a Spock-Kirk bromance should just watch TOS, the TOS movies and the Kelvin movies. SNW is Spock and Pike's time. Three different relationships with the crew is certainly different from several different relationship-of-the-week stories. The show getting cancelled cut off a...

From now on one show at a time?

Well, they couldn't keep this lifelong Trekkie subscribed. After Lower Decks was canceled (far and away my favorite Trek of the last quarter-century) I unsubscribed from Paramount+ and never re-upped. And since the new Skydance overlords seem clearly evil, It's likely I'm done with Star Trek...

From now on one show at a time?

The original plan was for year-round Trek, but Covid killed that. Then the streaming bubble burst and Paramount have been floundering a lot. None of the shows became "must watch" streaming stuff akin to Stranger Things or Game of Thrones as hoped, but I'm sure they kept Trekkies subscribed...

    Yellowjackets

Present day storyline has just been going from bad to worse so it's not a bad call to wrap it up rather than drag it out and risk cancellation.

From now on one show at a time?

...31 was aimed at someone, somewhere, too. Do we have any statistics or insider knowledge that suggests they achieved their goals? The cancellation of Prodigy and the possible cutting-short of SNW makes me wonder. I know Discovery was apparently considered a huge success in terms of generating...

Spoilers Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

It seems like D+ sitting on their hands instead of green lighting S3 has kinda screwed over DW. A lot of money poured into a show doesn't mean anything when you effectively cancel it after 2 seasons.

And the Next Cancelled Show is...

The same thing The Sci-Fi Channel, The Discovery Channel, The History Channel, The Learning Channel, Animal Planet, MTV, and VH1 (among others) all did: Sell out their brand to produce crappy "reality" shows and low-production trash in desperate attempts to stay alive.

    Re-Watching VOY

Never in my life have I ever been so excited to watch something I think will be bad. In a bizarre way, I'm looking forward to watching this as much as I looked forward to watching "Duet", except in complete reverse! I originally gave "Duet" an 11 out of 10. What will I give "Threshold"? Not...

    Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

For the first time in my life I understand why my mom is worried about who will take of me if she's gone. I cancelled all my plans to spend a week at my grandparents place due to a bout of depression, I can't do that anymore within a decade or so when they pass. And when that happens I only have...

    2026 Novel Releases

Yes, they are but in this case I was referring to the characters which have showed up in the NuTrek movies and SNW. Some of them are not good and I definitely don't want to read about the "Spock" or "Kirk" and other nev versions of TOS characters that we have seen in the NuTrek movies and SNW...

Dr Who (2005) writer states the show is dead

The thread title is very misleading. He's not saying the show is cancelled, just that nobody knows what comes next so the tie-ins won't be able to address the new status quo. Before, when the original series ended, at least the Seventh Doctor and Ace were still current, so the books could move...

Strange New Worlds' showrunners advise fans to write to Skydance and Paramount if they're interested in a "Year One" Kirk sequel series

As I said, that is not the part that is relevant to the analogy I was making. As with any analogy, the point is about the thing they do have in common. It's actually pretty rare for a streaming show -- any show, really -- to get as many as four and a half seasons. SNW has done pretty well; of...

Strange New Worlds' showrunners advise fans to write to Skydance and Paramount if they're interested in a "Year One" Kirk sequel series

Is it, though? In order to bring new younger fans into the fold, is it necessary to make a new Kirk, Spock and the Enterprise yet again? How well has that worked for SNW? Because I would think that CBS/P+ wouldn’t have cancelled it if it was some sort of ratings powerhouse with the 18-30 year...
