Strange New Worlds' showrunners advise fans to write to Skydance and Paramount if they're interested in a "Year One" Kirk sequel series

...terms of what they want or are interested in. It's not about their wishes or preferences, it's about what they can afford to do based on the ratings. People always want to blame executives for killing shows, but it's the audience that decides a show's fate by whether they watch it in enough...

Strange New Worlds' showrunners advise fans to write to Skydance and Paramount if they're interested in a "Year One" Kirk sequel series

Are you unaware of the circumstances? CBS was ready to cancel SNW after season 4. But the producers still needed time to end the show properly, so CBS gave them a two hour movie in lieu of S5. The producers begged with them to give them more, because two hours still wasn’t enough. So CBS...

Strange New Worlds' showrunners advise fans to write to Skydance and Paramount if they're interested in a "Year One" Kirk sequel series

...that only happens if enough people watch it. No matter how much a network or studio may want to keep making a show, they can't keep it if the ratings are too low for them to afford it. And no matter how much a network or studio may hate lowering themselves to churning out cheapo reality-TV...

Spoilers Alien Earth (2025 Hulu show)

...The theater near me shows a different classic film every 2 weeks. That's a fairly accurate way to measure it. They should start judging ratings by phone usage during an episode. I imagine all the toys will be put back in the box . A message will be sent to the Nostromo to divert course and...

    What are you watching???

I gave Murdoch mysteries a break for a few weeks and decided it was time to FINALLY watch all of Space 1999. I had seen a few episodes back in the late 70's early 80's. Barely remember much about them except that at the time I thought it was a second rate Star Trek. On season two right now...

    Strange New Worlds disappointment

I have no issue with the comedy or musical episodes per se, just that with only 10 episodes, they take up a little too much of the time we get each season. I find 10 episodes per season disappointing, especially with what I think of as the best of the latter day Star Treks (and I like them all).

    Strange New Worlds disappointment

But that's not necessarily what production teams took away from negative commentary.

    Strange New Worlds disappointment

While I do wish a bit more was done with the postwar Klingon state, I am glad we haven't gone back to any of the "Discovery planets." There's already enough small universe syndrome/self-referential stuff in Trek. The more Trek just references old things, rather than show us new things, the...

    SNW questions

One of my favorites of the series! I'm not normally a fan of musicals, but this one was fun. I even bought the soundtrack on vinyl! Yes on both. I've seen nearly every S1-S2 episode five or six times, and every S3 episode two or three times. To keep it short: Usually very enjoyable and a lot...

    Strange New Worlds disappointment

What I clearly meant was that SNW strayed from the worldbuilding that Discovery and Short Treks did. So much that was mentioned has been abandoned. Section 31 operating openly, Harry Mudd family drama, the temporal arms race with the Klingons, the fallout from the “loss” of Discovery by those...

    SNW questions

Yes. Love it. Top 5 SNW episode. I have watched all three seasons. It’s being watched because it has Star Trek in the title and its potential to be great, and not because of any strong feelings towards the show. Its more pleasant to watch than the first couple of seasons of Discovery. But it’s...

    SNW questions

    1. Yes. The musical was tough for me the first time but liked it better the 2nd time. Good character development stuff and one outright hilarious bit. 2. Finished & worth it. 3. Best live Trek since DS9. Though S1 & S2 were considerably better than S3. A bit too glib at times for me. Some of...

Spoilers Star Trek: Khan 1x02 - "Scheherazade"

Too bad Jochaim's father died. But this leads into why Khan thinks of him as a son even though he's not. I always figured that Khan was more like a father figure to Jochiam than an actual father because he looks a lot older than 15 in TWOK. Overall, when rating this episode, I landed on...

Does anyone think Star Trek Legacy will ever happen?

...be waiting two/three years to get started so we might be seeing some stuff soon. I doubt they want just 1 Trek show airing so I wouldn't be surprised if STA gets a third season to air alongside whatever theyre cooking up unless the ratings absolutely tank. My guess is 3 shows instead of 5 though.

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 3x10 - "New Life and New Civilizations"

Sorry to dig this out... but, its possible because SF is generally not in the business of annihilating everything in its path, they tend to in most encounters use 'just enough' to diffuse the situation while minimizing casualties, etc. - this is why we seldom (aka, almost never) see the 'true...

    Year-Focused Registry Chronologics

Plausible, absolutely, but not supported by the shows/films directly, and perhaps contradicted. The TNGTM suggested a very lengthy construction cycle, with the Enterprise-D herself launched 2359, making her four years old by the time TNG starts. That always seemed weird to me, and the 2363...

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 3x10 - "New Life and New Civilizations"

I gave it an 8 for lack of depth. The producers wanted to explore more evil and horror this season and did so with mixed results. This is a very surface treatment of the subject. I was hoping there was more to it. My rating would've been lower if not for the Batel-Pike resolution which I think...

    SNW questions

Have you seen the 'musical' one, if so what did you think of it? I liked it. Have you finished it and was it worth watching? Finished that one episode? I did like the musical episode, so yes, I would. What are your overall thoughts on the series? Good casting, very good costuming and FX, but too...
