Star Trek: Pathfinder #3 - 'The Revenant Star'

USS Pathfinder inside the Veil May 31, 2163 "How are we?" asked Teague. The captain and his chief engineer were standing in the observation bay, a large room packed with consoles that overlooked Main Engineering. Through the trio of wide windows, they could see the warp core as it bathed...

Spoilers Strange New Worlds jumps the shark... ("Subspace Rhapsody")

It was good, but it could have been better. Trouble is musical episodes tend to be compared with Once More With Feeling, which was so far ahead of the rest that nothing can compare. The only musical episode that's come close to Buffy in my view was Once Upon a Time. SNW in its second half has...

Spoilers Strange New Worlds jumps the shark... ("Subspace Rhapsody")

shows give reasons to do musical. throw in grey's anatomy that did a musical in a medical environment.. I would even say that is beyond fantasy and the worst place to do a musical. the execution is what is hard to pull off. Joss Whedon was scared to death that a musical buffy episode...

Spoilers Strange New Worlds jumps the shark... ("Subspace Rhapsody")

Not really jump the shark but way too big for the show to do and the creators are no where near as creative as Joss Whedon, Once more with the feeling OMWTF episode to pull it off. I mean you can see the stark difference in score. OMWTF is a 9.5/10 on IMDB. Subspace Rhapsody is a 6.5/10 and...

Spoilers Strange New Worlds jumps the shark... ("Subspace Rhapsody")

Nope. It's a lovely episode. One of the best. Very character driven episode. One that moved the arcs forward. Not sure how a show "earnts" a musical episode or any other type of episode. Liked the songs. Liked the "anomaly" (A very Trek reason for something to make a the crew do X). Didn't see...

Spoilers Strange New Worlds jumps the shark... ("Subspace Rhapsody")

...a major "jump the shark" moment for Strange New Worlds. The next season is full of unearnt gimmick episodes like "Subspace Rhapsody", and the ratings for its episodes on IMDB are substantially lower than those of Seasons 1 & 2. So, yeah. This episode is just terrible. It's "Spock's Brain" for...

Spoilers Marvel Cinematic Universe spoiler-heavy speculation thread

Not only do I put more emphasis on his use of the word "ignore", I have a different read on what he's saying with the phrase " you can say that Daredevil is Canon to the MCU" in that his use of the word 'that' is referencing the Daredevil from She-Hulk as being distinct from the version of...

Spoilers Marvel Cinematic Universe spoiler-heavy speculation thread

Sure. You do you. You always stretch like Reed Richards to make the story fit the way you want it to be anyway, so why should this be any different? At any rate, if Dario really were going to ignore She-Hulk, then why would he even bother putting in the yellow helmet instead of, you know, just...

    Blake's 7 on Blu-ray!

Why not? It's a power plant like any other. The parts of it inhabited by humans aren't exposed to radiation or radioactive material, since power plant designers are not stupid and obviously would design the plants to keep the human-occupied areas well away from those things. Nuclear power is the...

Strange New Worlds' showrunners advise fans to write to Skydance and Paramount if they're interested in a "Year One" Kirk sequel series

As I said, that is not the part that is relevant to the analogy I was making. As with any analogy, the point is about the thing they do have in common. It's actually pretty rare for a streaming show -- any show, really -- to get as many as four and a half seasons. SNW has done pretty well; of...

Strange New Worlds' showrunners advise fans to write to Skydance and Paramount if they're interested in a "Year One" Kirk sequel series

...In order to bring new younger fans into the fold, is it necessary to make a new Kirk, Spock and the Enterprise yet again? How well has that worked for SNW? Because I would think that CBS/P+ wouldn’t have cancelled it if it was some sort of ratings powerhouse with the 18-30 year old demographic.

    Blake's 7 on Blu-ray!

I think I've mentioned it before in either this thread or another, that most of the men's costumes in the first and second series came from an S&M shop located in the garment district, which is were Gareth Thomas got his oversized shirt and thigh high boots, Paul Darrow got his leather outfits...

    Re-Watching VOY

Drunk, all the way. Since it features a technological breakthrough that changes everything and will never be mentioned again, best not to remember it. Regarding Alliances, not sure what to rate it yet. But Janeway's eyerolling speech at the end will drop its score precipitously.

    Blake's 7 on Blu-ray!

I suspected that from the new Blu-Ray trailer as well as the older one included with the season 1 set, where every other word everyone said was "Star One." I agree. There were aspects that looked kind of home-spun and crappy, but home-spun and crappy in a similar way to the original effects...
