What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

ENT wasn't exactly setting the fandom and the Nielsen ratings on fire over on UPN, and NEM happened to drop at the box office at a bad time for a Trek movie to debut.

Spoilers Marvel Cinematic Universe spoiler-heavy speculation thread

I want more Luke Cage and Jessica Jones but I feel like it really all falls on the second season of Daredevil getting good ratings. Without that I am not sure they would return to those Netflix shows again. Except maybe with the Punisher.

    The Classic/Retro Pop Culture Thread

50 Years Ago This Week September 21 Frank G. Zarb, head of the U.S. Federal Energy Administration, announced that the President had rescinded part of a $2.00 per barrel fee on imported oil, reducing the price per barrel of refined petroleum products to $1.40. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia...

The James Bond Film Discussion Thread (With Bonus Lazenby!)

And ABC getting the broadcast rights to Bond films meant this travesty of editing was created for the purposes of network ratings. It's absolutely painful to watch even clips from the original 1976 broadcast.

Strange New Worlds' showrunners advise fans to write to Skydance and Paramount if they're interested in a "Year One" Kirk sequel series

...to tie up the character stories P+ instead agreed to a 6 episode 5th season. Trust me in that if a studio is diseased with the direction or ratings performance of a series they will cancel it rather then renew and decide to spend more money producing new episodes. Also, you can guarantee...

News Jimmy Kimmel Show "Removed" Indefinitely

Lying about the shooter is indeed offensive, and presumably potentially embarrassing to ABC executives. ( Though with Kimmel's history of douchebaggery, who knows? ) Kimmel's ratings were in free fall and the Colbert show was losing money, not making it.

News Jimmy Kimmel Show "Removed" Indefinitely

Only difference is that Kimmel and Colbert are not embarrassments to the networks they work for. They bring/brought high ratings and multiple awards, and the companies make lots of money from them. Audiences continue to follow them and enjoy their programs. It's the Trump administration and its...

ST:SNW S3 - What did you rate all the eps & what was your Season Average?

I am one who usually rates it immediately after watching, and then watches it again later & realizes the initial rating was probably off by a bit. Here is what I gave initially. 3x01: 8 (tad generous) 3x02: 7 (tad generous) 3x03: 8 3x04: 9 3x05: 9 3x06: 8 (stingy) 3x07: 7 (tad stingy) 3x08: 5...

    Shaw's recent art/research projects

Yeah... what he said. That's why I include both images and links, even for smaller images that I didn't used to. All my stuff is falling behind the times. My old systems are unable to even see many forums I used to post to, and I can only see this one with a work around (which could end with...

Agreed. It was great seeing the original actor playing Apollo. It was a fun episode. A nice companion to the original..

What is your opinion of season 3 as a whole?

Overall, a step down from season 2, and a major step down from season 1. "Shuttle to Kenfori" is the only one, I believe, that I rated a 9 or up. A few were really good ("What Is Starfleet?", "Through the Lense of Time", "The Sehlat Who Ate Its Tail"), "Hegemony, Part II" was pretty good, and...

    Spoilers Wednesday (Addams) Netflix Show

It's always weird to me when people talk about things that were always normal in TV as if they were somehow unique to the streaming era. It's always been the case that only a minority of shows get as much as three seasons, and getting five or more is exceptional. The reason the 1980s-90s Star...

...than eight. There are very few American series on Netflix that last more than five seasons. I don't think Wednesday will last more than five seasons because the ratings are gradually declining. And Jenna Ortega is a movie star now. She wouldn't want to be on a series for more than five seasons.

Strange New Worlds' showrunners advise fans to write to Skydance and Paramount if they're interested in a "Year One" Kirk sequel series

Please point out where I blamed executives for killing shows. CBS is canceling SNW, however they choose to do it, as is their right, as they own the property. And they are clearly not interested in continuing with a new show along the same vein.
