Fun fact: the popular ‘70’s/‘80’s British sitcom Are You Being Served? was cancelled after its 7th season. A few years later the BBC was looking for a replacement show, and decided to bring back AYBS because someone had the foresight to store all the sets in a barn rather than destroying them...
That's a good point. They've got no shortage of Doctor Who connections, not least through their League of Gentlemen partner Mark Gatiss, and Inside No. 9 shows they can manage a show that's wildly different every week. There's a darkness to a lot of their stuff, but I suspect they'd be a better...
I like your numbers, I found a kg to MgTonne conversion page. 3.4 billion megatonnes would be a big crater.

Yes, shoot him into vapor.
Yes, but I'm referring to how much she's actually in it.
I'm a big fan of JMS but even I think that's a massive stretch.
I'd argue he did that with Sense8. The main reason that show was canceled wasn't because of the lack of viewership or quality of writing, but the massive costs of...
I asked ChatGPT to calculate it, and it says more like 3,410 megatons, or 68 times the yield of the Tsar Bomba (roughly 227,000 “Hiroshima” (15-kt) bombs). Enough to make a miles-wide crater on the Earth, but literally not Earth-shattering, let alone universe-wrecking.
I never took the idea...
Yes, exactly, Skydance is holding their cards close to their chest, and has not themselves cancelled anything. As of Mid September Goldsman had not yet gotten a meeting to pitch Year One to Skydance.
That would be the perfect opportunity to make a big splash. They have a year, which is...
I just want to point out that you keep convoluting what the old CBS/Paramount regime wanted with what the new Skydance group may want.
That's almost an apples to oranges comparison.
From the few public comments that have been made, what the folks at Skydance have somewhat indicated so far is...
I don't think it will happen but magic 8 ball is not as clear as many are, and I lack certainty of what is next.
I personally don't see Paramount cancelling SNW because it had a ship named ENTERPRISE or them changing their minds for no other reason than things get expensive as productions go on.
Sigh. I feel like a broken record here, but again I will point out:
CBS/Paramount just cancelled a show about a crew on a ship named Enterprise. If they wanted another show about a crew on a ship named Enterprise, they would have just kept SNW going. So clearly, the concept of a crew on a ship...
Whatever BMF is, Starz has canceled it after four seasons. Meanwhile, there are many spinoffs in development, so who knows what will happen to them now.
Legacy will never be made.
Kirk Year One will never be made.
President Archer will never be made.
A Kelvin ST4 film has an outside chance of getting made.
But any 'new' Trek announced by Skydance will not be any of the previously pitched stuff above.
(And if I'm wrong, oh well ;))
A matter of taste of course but Trek has always been quite talky. Mixed with space battles of course. But I would certainly disagree that Trek is about action.
Discovery and Academy have already done that.
A matter of taste again with Matalas. Beyer knows her stuff without devolving into...
Star Trek is about exploration.
Combining Trek and The West Wing would make for a VERY talky series. Trek is about action, not diplomats endlessly walking and talking down hallways.
Legacy has Seven of Nine and the Enterprise-G. It's closer to traditional Trek than United would ever be...
I think the Potter vibe also comes from having Merlin be studying magic.
But it was the trend of the time in some ways, a bit like how we got Robin of Sherwood that was just a little dash of the then recent Excalibur in the eighties.
If RoS was the New Romantic Robin Hood, then Merlin was the...
ENTERPRISE was cancelled mainly because UPN told CBS/Paramount that they wanted to go in a different direction and didn't want the show anymore.
The CEO of CBS wasn't a Trek/Sci-Fi fan and pretty much indicated that it was stupid waste of money anyway, so he cut it.
The fact that the ratings...
And again, Microsoft's messaging seems to be all over the place. This latest one seems to be a direct response to people cancelling their Gamepass subscriptions due to the price hike. Because Surprise surprise, they now want to do away with the multiplayer paywall entirely! Winds of change...
...series for Christmas (the UK edition was considerably cheaper than the North American one). This was in 2022, 10 years after the show's cancellation.
I haven't looked back since. I've watched the TV series multiple times, searched out every blooper I can find on YT, watched a lot of fan...
