Spoilers All Things STAR WARS - News, Speculation & Spoilers Thread

Yes, it makes perfect sense. Your desire to see a sequel is directly proportional to the good emotions you felt when leaving the theater for the previous installment a couple years before. I'm not joking. For example, I saw Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom in the Theater, but skipped...

Whose names would you put on the wall?

    But, but…it’s CAAANNNOONNNN!!!!!
  3. Detached Nacelle

Whose names would you put on the wall?

Placid, reasonable, half-measures? Where do you think you are?

Whose names would you put on the wall?

...they always used stuff like the dedication plaques or blink-and-you-will-miss-it background graphics as a way to include these type of in-jokes. As a fan you knew they were there, but they weren’t so big that they would take you out of the story. This wall of names is so large that it’s hard...

Whose names would you put on the wall?

She was a doctor in TMP. Blasphemy! Next you'll tell me those graphics on the Enterprise D are wrong too! ;)
  6. Detached Nacelle

Whose names would you put on the wall?

Which ironically bothers lifelong trek fans because of investment in the shows that came before.
  7. Michael

Whose names would you put on the wall?

Or, and hear me out here, it’s just a piece of background art meant as a cute in-joke for life-long Trek fans, honoring all the shows that came before this one, nothing more and nothing less. :p

Spoilers Strange New Worlds jumps the shark... ("Subspace Rhapsody")

When "Subspace Rhapsody" was about to air, I genuinely thought it was a prank or joke commercial. Imagine my surprise when I find out it really IS a musical. And this was NOT a good surprise. I can't stand musicals. It's just not my genre. So a musical episode of a STAR TREK series was...

The Most Disliked Episode of DS9, Finals - 2025 Edition...

...induce time travel... that said, the payoff was more than well worth it as it was a highly engaging story... apart from the little fourth wall joke in the middle: GARLAND: Imagine the possibilities. Who knows what they could teach us. A few years from now, mankind could have rocket ships of...

Voyager moments mentioned yet never seen: your choice?

...a twentieth-century parking enforcement officer. We could have taken a few pointers! "Revulsion": Tom and Harry enacting a series of practical jokes on Tuvok...and Tuvok's legendary Vulcan patience being rigorously tested in the process. "Prey": Tom Paris pursuing a rodent through Jeffries...

    Tron: Ares

...to interact like that, like a DLC expansion pack for a game. A 1982 mainframe equivalent just isn't coming to mind, though. My previous joke about BSOD notwithstanding, maybe it was a glitch that took place after the MCP was defeated. Where's the extension cord, power switch (even Data has...

Is it time to put Star Trek to rest?

Do people still watch Stripes? (I'm not sure I've seen it in 40 years.)

Is it time to put Star Trek to rest?

Lighten up, Francis. It was a joke, that's all.

How come noone talks about a Voyager reboot?

He’s definitely into something good. A Voyager reboot, however, is not that.

    Re-Watching DS9

...notes that Kira likes men in power (between Bariel and Shakaar), then says it's more incentive for him to regain his power. Kira thinks it's a joke, but Dukat is just like Trump. He never jokes. And he hates the freighter that he's on, that can't blow up anything. The Klingon Bird of Prey...

Dr Who (2005) writer states the show is dead

...much of the 8th Doctor either and he had about five thousand books. Assuming the current casting actually had anything other than "stunt", "joke", "trolling", or whatever the real reason was for ending the show on such a cliffhanger. I wonder if Rob ever read the original final episode...

Spoilers Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

Cotillard is not eccentric enough to be the Doctor. If we are talking about a female Doctor then I like the idea of the role going to Juno Temple.

How come noone talks about a Voyager reboot?

I didn't even know Peter Noone was a fan. Thank you to the three people who got that joke,

    Starfleet Academy General Discussion Thread

Yeah, as bad as some of the Berman Era humor could be, Matalas and the showrunners of streaming Trek should probably stop trying to make the jokes in the new live-action shows "edgy." LD gets away with stuff because it's already tongue-in-cheek or outright surreal.

    Keeping Tasha

...even promoted to lieutenant commander (hey, it’s my fever dream). Honestly, they really should’ve separated security and tactical. I know Sisko jokes about how Worf loves being overworked, but come on—security, tactical, and handling the hailing frequencies? Poor guy. But yeah. Why not...
