I bet they don't have the format decided yet. How many episodes, etc

Well Jack, Chloe, Kate and even Belchek are still alive so there could be another day. Heller, will of course, be gone. I can see Jacks friends breaking him out of the Russian prison. Again this would be up to Fox and Keifers willingness to do another season. Hear's hoping Day 10 will come!!

This was the first season of 24 that didn't drag in the middle.

    Bring on Day 10.

Season 10: Chloe, Kate, and Belchek break Tony Almeida out of prison, track down Aaron Pierce, and together they all go after Jack.

    MAKE IT HAPPEN, FOX!

I'm still not sure exactly where I'd rank this season, but it's definitely in my top three, along with 1 and 5.

Indeed. My interpretation was that the intent of this season was to close-out the character since they couldn't get a movie. But they didn't do that at ALL. So, yeah, let's hope to see another Summer Replacement season. Though I hope it's more episodes or that the time-jump is between episodes in order to cover a travel time or something. The time-jump here was just very, very awkward. With how we see things happen in the 24-universe it's pretty hard to believe pretty much NOTHING happened in a 12-hour span given everything the last "10 PM hour" segment ended.

    Wow.

All and all, very good episode and a pretty good season. It ran tight but still ran into the usual tropes of the series. I do hope that if it does do another season that it really does do something very different than the usual "big threat to country/world Jack saves the day."

And, awesome, invincibility star, Jack at the end there after getting the word Audrey had died. Great stuff. Didn't really track his kills, but the season overall had such a small kill-count from him tracking it wasn't worth it. He probably ended up in the high teens/low 20s if that much.

If there's another season, I wouldn't mind seeing Agent Kate back and certain Chloe but, dear, lose the Goth look. I wonder if Jack arranged for her to get a pardon too?

Devane did a good job with Heller but I'm a fan of his.

But I really thought this season was intended to give Jack the proper send-off since they couldn't get a movie worked out, thus I expected the time-jump to cover a flight to the states with Jack reuniting with Kim and his grandchildren.

But now, I'm not so sure. They *must* have another season or *something* planned. Hell, at this point at least give us a TV movie. Give Jack a proper ending before it's too late and you can't, dammit! Him wasting away being tortured in a Russian prison is not how this character who has saved the world 8 times now needs to be finished off.

    Arghhhh!

    FOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    My season rankings:

    Season 2
    Season 1
    Season 3
    Season 9/LAD
    Season 5
    Season 4
    Redemption/Season 7
    Season 8
    Season 4
    Season 6

Just an off-the-cuff ranking, mind's fuzzy now from my medication to really think.

But, this season was pretty good.

They don't need a time jump if they do another 12-episode season, all they need to do is keep the real-time gimmick. "24" at this point is just a brand name, it's not necessarily descriptive of a full day anymore.

Eh, it's part of the gimmick. Since the "24" is supposed to represent the hours in a day and it wouldn't make much sense to call the show "24" and not have a season cover the span of 24 hours.

True enough, but the intent of Redemption was just to be a 2-hour movie to set-up the events of the next season. Any "season" of the show, I'd argue, should cover the span of 24 hours however they choose to do it. Just the late mid-episode jump here was just odd. The jump should be between episodes.

On that I agree. This last episode felt a bit like a cheat.

As long as it's real time, I'm happy. Either that or just call it The Jack Bauer Power Hour for reals.

I thought for sure Jack was going to blow the chopper at the end killing himself and the russians. Now we can pick up with some threat to both the Russians and the U.S. That only Jack can save us from and he is forced to work with Tony to do it.

I was kind of expecting that too. Which still would have been a cheat, unless the Russians posed an active threat, which if Jack's to go down that's how he should go down, in order to save the President, the country, the world, not because he kinda doesn't want to go to a Russian prison.

I kind of also hope if there is to be a next season maybe we can set it in Russia to stop a potential Russian/US threat? Different setting, again, could be different but they barely pulled off the London setting this time around, wonder if they could pull off a Russian setting.

Could have a prequel starring Jack's dad in the hippie days, working at some kind of pirate TV station. You could call it the Bauer Flower Power Tower Hour.

When Jack held that katana to Cheng's throat, I was waiting for Cheng to say "I'm not Japanese, you God damn racist!"

Terrific finale! They definitely set up another season. No way the government can let Russia get away with having Jack in custody, not after the shit they've pulled during the last two seasons.

Would love to see a team of Chloe, Kate, and Belcheck rescue Jack.

Jack's be-heading of Chang was awesome. (Though risky, I mean what if the Chinese WANTED Chang alive?!)

They could always have Season 10 focus on Kate and/or Chloe with Jack only showing up near the end. Not ideal, but it's one way of getting Sutherland back without wearing him out.

Last time 24 ended I was happy to see it go away. I think this season was solid enough to where I'd be looking forward to it coming back.

I really enjoyed this season of 24, though I am disappointed it wasn't a full season. I feel like things that went by too quickly could have been fleshed out more had we gotten a full 24, the Russians working with Cheng for starters. I am disappointed to see Audrey die, but it goes with the theme of the series: That anyone Jack touches either dies or is extremely screwed up. I suppose I was also hoping for more Kate in the finale too, I felt they were building her up to be Jack's partner, and she doesn't even get to be involved in fire fight on the boat (which was excellent btw).

Also, I just wrapped up Season 7 in my first time viewing of the show. I really had a lot of fun with it, especially with the DC setting, it made the show feel fresh again. I think it got muddled a bit in the middle, and I know not everyone was happy with the revolving door of villains, but it picked up in the end and ended on a high note.

    Two things I enjoyed:

-Jack gets infected with a weaponized virus and it only slightly slows him down.

-Kim returns so she can get used by the villains again to force Jack to do their bidding.

Sort-of how I feel. When Season 8 ended I was okay with it. I thought the series had run its course and was looking forward to some movies.

Now? Well, now I want to see some more. This season was actually pretty good and, really, part of me kind-of wishes it would have been the full 24 episodes, or maybe 18 or so to run-out the summer.
