Da Vinci's Demons is confirmed returning for a third season, albeit with a change of showrunner, as David Goyer steps back to let X Files, Breaking Bad, and Enterprise veteran John Shiban handle the day-to-day storytelling.

Shiban, of course, has worked with the show's Cardiff-based crew and BBC Worldwide producers before, on Torchwood Miracle Day.

Thank goodness for season 3, 'cause this show has been worth sticking with. I was a little worried at the start of this season, that they had lost their way but, wow. All the threads started in season one are now roaring back with a vengeance!

I am a bit concerned with these staff changes though, they better not water it down.

Goyer has written the arc outline, so that should be OK.

My concern with the staff changes is it reduces the chances of a season 4, as Shiban's Blackbirds will go into production next year, so they'd have to switch showrunners again if they wanted to keep Da Vinci going.

Still, it's the first Starz series other than Spartacus to make it past season 2, that has to be worth something!

It is? I still watch out of some kind of completist attitudes but its certainly one of the worst shows i"ve ever seen on a premium channel.
