You're right. We should definitely cast Doctors based on whether or not little kids might stumble upon bad words on the internet, thus scarring them for life and leaving them permanently unable to function in society.
We will definitely get a female Doctor soon (Moffat's blow off of casting a woman was sad) and the world will go on, leaving people who can't handle a woman as a mainstream hero in the past.
It is heavily implied that during the run between the Wedding of River Song and TNOTD that the Doctor had a full marital relationship with River, albeit not spelled out on screen. That said, I don't think that can be classed as shagging about, she was his wife.
I think that at Jenna Coleman did a nude scene on some British TV show before Doctor Who, so I don't think that this 'Thick of It' show will be a big deal .
