Do I correctly recall the bridge entrance on the JJprise bridge (in the TOS entrance spot) was not just a turbolift, but also a short passageway to A CORRIDOR OUTSIDE THE BRIDGE?
I believe what you remember is the Kelvin bridge. And the small corridor where Papa Kirk & Robau have a short conversation before Robau enters the lift.
Actually I believe the scene involved Chekhov running from the bridge to the transporter room. Possibly once or twice more as well.
The TOS side door is a turbolift, the other side leads to the corridors and the rest of the deck. This Enterprise is a lot bigger than the old one (725m long up from 289), the bridge is the room at the front, not filling the entire top dome as it once did.
I thought both sides were turbolifts AND entrances to the corridors. They worked like a two door or double sided elevator...maybe not but for some reason I got that sense about it. I thought it was a cool way of doing it with the bridge being different with more to the dome. But if that's not the case oh well.
If we were looking through the viewscreen inside the bridge, to the right would be a turbolift and to the left would be a double door "airlock" into another section of Deck 1 (or A Deck if you want).
The port-side door (next to the dedication plaque) is the turbolift: Spock exits the lift there when we first see him walk onto the bridge: When Kirk, McCoy and Uhura race through the ship to warn Pike that there's more than a seismic emergency, they are seen entering the bridge directly from the corridor via the other (starboard-side) door: When Chekov goes "I can do that"-ing to the transporter room, he exits via the same door.
