Oh, boy, you really are new here...

People, for some reason, seem to get really heated if something negative is said about their favorite pair in their pair's thread(IE, "T/T'P is immature teeny-bopper soap opera crap!" or "Captains don't f**k their crews, so A/T'P is dumb!"). These two examples are very insulting and degrading, and neither are called for.

Worst of all, this attitude has a tendancy to spill outside of the desinated shipper threads and into topics that have nothing to do with A/T'P or T/T'P such as episode discussions, ratings discussions...you name it. I can't even name the number of "A/T vs. T/T" threads that I've seen since I've registered here, but I can count on one knuckle the number of which made it to 1000 posts.

Simply put: Shippage in the ENT fandom is a very sensitive topic, which IMO stemmed from the fact that there was nothing else of true revelance to Star Trek that was worth discussing in ENT's early days. If you want to discuss your shipper preference, do so with caution. And I hope you have tough skin.

I should know. This is my 1000th post, after nearly three years.

The mods feel that it disrupts the board when people who like one pairing respond negatively to others that like the another pairing...

The problem was not in the 'shipper threads' itself, it was outside of the 'shipper' threads and in regular threads when 'shippy' comments were made and it took the subject off topic.
Basically it is the same appx. 6 people that cause many of the problems by baiting/trolling and then saying that they are innocent. I usually ignore inflammatory comments and try to post back to ones that are interesting to me.

The mods felt that shutting down the boards would stop the conflict rather than stopping the people that tend to cause the major 'baiting' problems......

Taking away the shipper boards was not the solution...
All it did was make the board less interesting for most of us and we went elsewhere......

At times we are going to disagree about our perceptions of the episodes wether you are a 'shipper' or not... I can understand the mod coming in when there are personal attacks but to be able to debate is what makes the boards interesting...

But personally I don't see the problem with it either...... but then I am biased.... ;)

Hmm, I understand now, sorta, I guess I personally am not so emotially vested in the series where I would get into an argument of that nature so the whole thing, seems rather .. interesting to me, its kind of odd when you look at something that you've sorta seen going on around you but haven't been involved in at all, and you sort of have a third person perspective on it.

As for the whole situtation of people saying the things are degrading to make comments about these pairings, I still see where people are coming from more or less, I reall have nothing to say about it, because I would hate to instigate anything. I've always found perspective to be rather interesting personally.. its sort of nice to be able to look at something from all sides.

I love posting pictures as well and don't really understand these new restrictions and how they apply to the shipper problems. If you don't like looking at pictures of Trip and T'Pol or a bare chested Archer then stay away from the thread.

For me it's not a shipper issue. I go to the T/T thread and see that there are 12 new posts. Then I see there are 6 new words and 15 new pics. It's really dull to me for there not to be discussion on a discussion board. I know that's not why they are trying to cut down on the number of pics, but thought I'd toss in my two cents.

And, as was said, pics are bandwidth eaters and make threads take longer to load.

and I don't even want pics to be posted in the shipper threads but in one specific thread. links are fine with me, as well. the people who don't wanna be bothered by them don't have to go into these threads. it's that simple.

the chest thread for Scott/Archer was only visited by scott and bakula fans. and MOST of those people were NOT shippers. that thread was a highlight of their visit to this board. they were not into 'ship battles or arguments.

to not have something like that around means this board is discriminating against those posters. am I making myself clear?

Yeah, we get it. But if we're allowed pictures on threads, I'd like for there to be a limit to the size. I remember somebody posting a picture on a thread that had nothing to do with the photo being posted that was so huge, I kept having to move my browser pretty far to the left and right to read the posts that followed it.

Discriminatory? A bit of a strong word, and inaccurate, IMO. It's like saying it's discriminatory not to let people come here and discuss Babylon 5. This is a discussion board, not a picture board.

Hi. I would like to contribute.

I've not been very active in this forum in a long while, mostly because I got bored with the show. I do have an interest in it still, though - I love the Trip and T'Pol relationship. When I visited this forum, basically the only threads I went into had to do with them. I rarely posted, just had a read and looked at the pictures, which I enjoyed. When the moratorium came into effect, my interest in this forum was minimal. I came in looking for the occasional spoiler on my favourite part of Enterprise, but had a hard time finding anything, mostly because before it was kept in the shipper threads, but now was who knows where. Upon seeing this thread, I got kind of excited - now I had something to come back and read. I find the order to keep pictures out of it, though, kind of sad. I enjoyed that. They didn't have to be posted right in the thread - links were fine. I guess I'm just posting to say that I hope the images can stay, and the shipper threads stay. They were the only things in this forum I liked. With the exception of Sam's threads, of course. ;)

    Just my two cents.

    Welcome back, Blue!

I think #2 in the shipper criteria should be especially followed. I hope the mods are ready to spend more time reviewing threads.

    Hi all!

I just want to say that I'm glad the shipper threads are back. As someone who (IMO) behaves herself for the most part, I hated not being able to participate in my favorite threads.

I want for all shippers (A/T'P, T/T'P or whatever) to be able to discuss their ship freely. And, I HATE when EITHER side gets snippy with the other because I like to discuss. I also want to have fun and wish the same for everyone else.

I would like to hope that the troublemakers (on both sides) have learned something from the 2 week respite. There should be no reason why we can't discuss things. I'm NOT just a T/T'Per, I love Trek and I LOVE Scott Bakula. So, I for one, do NOT want to be grouped into the "You like TnT so you must hate Archer" group. It's not fair. And, it's not fair to people who are A/T'Pers and don't hate Trip.

Anyway, I hope this post isn't taken the wrong way, I just wanted to give my 2 cents worth.

Please people, let's all get along! We all love the same show here!

Well, it's nice to see the Archer/Trip friendship and/or romantic shippers out in rejuvinated force instead of beaten under by the various Tippy shippers out there as has been the recent case.

    Long may it continue.

I think we are doing rather well so far. I hope the current level of maturity continues.

As much as I like viewing the pictures, they do take a long time to download and widen the screen so it is difficult to view them. I think we should keep them to a minimum. They do cause spam with one word answers and generally it is the same old pictures being brought up time and time again.

really i dont know if this is the right place to address this so the mods are free to move it where ever they wish.

i dont know if the time right after the moritorium ends was the best time to appoint a very open pro a/t person to the board.

and since i dont know kalen that well i dont know how hard she will find it to be objective...
she could do really well and i am willing to give her a chance.

but i do have a request and i would make the same one if a t/t person at this moment was asked to be a mod.

in a show of being objective agree to not to post in the ship threads.

one can still express a preference in a general thread were it is appropiate but honestly some t/t are a little nervous at the new.

but, i told them i dont see this happening unless the mods and t'bonz were assured that objectivity would occur so hopefully people will give her a chance.

and not go running from the board in a panic.

    welcome aboard kalen..
i really do wish you good luck..

Kalen is very fair and will continue to be so IMO. Top41 is considered by me and many others to be openly T/T and I know I have respected her opinions even when at the wrong end of them and didn't blame her ship preference for the decision nor should anyone else.

I wish I had saved all the messages for Kalen to just relax and let people have their opinions!

Pookha, thank you for stating your concerns, because I share them as well. In the past, Kalen has very actively participated in the Archer/T'Pol threads and hasn't been at all shy about her negative opinion of the Trip/T'Pol relationship.

So you have to excuse me and other T/T shippers for being a little worried about her impartiality.

Kalen Archer is about as objective and fair as any person gets. She also has never participated in any "'shippy wars" or baiting, and therefore I think she was a good choice for a new moderator. There's nothing wrong with having a 'shipper preference and being a moderator...as angie mentioned, Top41 has her own preferences too and she's never abused her powers because of it. Give Kalen a chance and I think you'll see that the shoes fit perfectly.
